Yancy (yancylael) | 2 comments Hi, I'd like to request a deletion of the quotes on this page, all belonging to me/my book. I'm having an agent look at it and they don't want any material on the internet at this point (I had self-published it previously). Thank you! https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes...

Hi Yancy

I've removed your quotes, but just to clarify - I was able to do that because they didn't have any likes. If they had been 'liked' by a member they would have to stay. :)

Edit: typo

That does not seem a quote meeting GR standards (a Seven Eleven Scholastic FB posting mentioned it https://www.facebook.com/711scholasti... but could only find a lot of online pictures showing it)

B C | 3 comments Last night, author J. Michael Straczynski discovered that a quote from his TV series Babylon 5 had been misattributed to Tennessee Williams.

I see the listing has now been corrected, but the published source is incorrect. It can be found in the 2nd volume of Babylon 5 scripts here:

Thanks.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. As a regular librarian I couldn't edit anything to do with a quote with that many likes - not the author, not the source or correct any typos. The necessary field will not show for me.

Unfortunately, I did a search through the book that the quote supposedly came from, and it's not there.

Taking a look now...

Edit: This is the right place to report spammy quotes & I have deleted them. Thanks for reporting.

If you find more, could you please number them. Makes it a bit easier to keep track. :)

Edit: If you regularly find spammy quotes on your GR travels it might be best to give them their own threads. Removing them is a very easy fix for Librarians.

Maybe you have just not checked back on the other threads you posted in. We do not delete books from Goodreads just because they are out of print.

It is a record of a book that existed. Goodreads maintains records for editions that have been out of print for centuries.

Removing a book from retail sale is your prerogative as the author. But Goodreads does not remove out of print books.

Duplicate request has been removed. To avoid confusion, please only post requests once. If a day or two have gone by with no reply, it's fine to bump your request up by responding to the same thread. Goodreads Librarians are volunteers, and some requests may take some time to get a reply.

So.... my duplicate post was deleted to avoid confusion even though it was actually a new thread in which I explained that it was a repost because I thought this one was dead, but nearly two days after deleting the new thread you still didn't have the time to just delete the quote?

Hi FoF

We prefer to edit rather than delete quotes. I am happy to look at this for you if you post exactly what needs to be done.

Some further explanation about this group. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Please in particular read the introduction, #9 & #15.

Just for your information a thread, even a long running one, isn't closed unless it has a little padlock on it like there is in the thread I have linked to.

Also we don't like multiple requests because that can lead to multiple librarians tripping over each other on one request rather than helping several members.

& this is only anecdotal, but although every year there aren't many librarians around at Christmastime, for whatever reason there seem to be less librarians around than usual atm.

Hope this helps! :)

Hi Jonathan

I am just a regular librarian, as opposed to being a Super & am not an expert on Wells.

I have found the bicycle quote https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/3719...

I have added the tag "attributed no source" to this one

This quote "Good books are the warehouses of ideals." I can't find on Goodreads. Please post a link if you find it.

I have gone through the quotes with 0 likes (English language only) & removed single words, titles of books, etc & edited some the had a single word attached to a sentence quote, typos, etc, If there are any other H.g. Wells quotes, you think need editing please give a link.

I found the article very amusing btw. Thanks for the link.

It's a partial quote, spoken by a character. The full sentence is "Those boys. [..]" which has been incorrectly reduced to "Boys. [..]"

I've edited it. If you would like to add another sentence before or after we can do that for context.
