Robert Beers | 10 comments Today's publishing industry is not what it was even a decade ago. Any resemblance to the days of agents honestly serving their clients and publishers doing the work of putting together a spotless book and marketing it is the realm of fantasy. Today, the working and aspiring authors are best served by themselves.

Two tools in my office that I use all the time are Grammarly and Draft2Digital. The first helps me with my editing. Only the foolish and the lazy do not check closely along with the tool. Editing takes time, live with it. The second is simply the best distribution platform there is for the self-published. D2D does 98% of the work for you. It formats, distributes to every retailer in the netsphere, and pays you your royalties as well as handing the tax reports. I just received notice of a nice Amazon payment last week.

I am sure there are other means and tools out there, so feel free to share. As for the Agents reading... can't you get a real job?

Robert Beers | 10 comments One important note. If you are well-heeled enough, meaning you can afford the startup costs, going to Amazon's Kindle Unlimited will pay more, but for most, it is very pricey and rather risky if you do not have the capability of managing your money while doing it.
