Reading Challenges 2015
This has some interesting categories! (I'll post my list soon, once I finish blogging it. Might take a bit, however.)http://bookriot.com/2014/12/15/book-r...
I've spent most of the evening making my list for the first challenge, and was able to blog it. Here it is: http://lydiajdouglas.blogspot.com/201...Things might change however. I am wanting to make sure it is as easy, and stress-free as possible because that can take the fun out of it quickly! :)
Ps. I didn't proofread whatsoever because I am very sleepy & have a headache. Try to ignore any and all errors! :P
Both lists look fun<3 I will be starting with the Book Riot list and picking titles as I go. Good luck!My challenge specific shelf:

I always loved challenges like this when I had the luxury of reading anything I wanted whenever I wanted, but I'm too structured now with time and content. I'm wishing you all so much luck. These are seriously awesome. :-)
Did my own list for the Popsugar Challenge! :)https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
I cheated a few times : did not found an author with my initials so I used my middle name instead, and I considered Les Miserables as a trilogy since it comes in three volumes in a lot of editions.
Not sure I will read all of it, I'm rather bad at keeping a defined path. I will try though. ^^
This is super cool!! thanks for posting. I read a lot of books already but i think this challenge will help me branch out to different books
I love that people are participating in this! I can't wait to discuss what people are reading for the challenge ^_^
I'm finally done with my list! That took way longer than I thought it would. Here it is:https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Happy reading to others doing challenges!
The popsugar list is a bit long so I doubt I'll finish it in a year but I'll give it a whirl.I'm not going to choose the books now but will try to use the books I have on my shelves that I've not read yet. And will try ro use the book club books where I can too.
Happy Reading everyone! !
I'm thinking of doing the Book Riot challenge but I'm afraid of coming up short because my list is quite an intense mix. On top of that, only half of them are readily available from my university library system, and only one of them is currently in my possession. The Goodreads version of the list is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
It's not in any particular order (I messed up) so I'll put a mirror on my blog in due course.
Not a challenge, but could help fill in a category: An interesting list of authors who wrote their debut novel after age 40. http://www.randysusanmeyers.com/blog/...
"House Organa approves this message" :-)
Is it cheating if I use some of the books from my Sugarpop list for my Book Riot list ? It would probably makes it easier to finish ! XD
Clémence wrote: "Is it cheating if I use some of the books from my Sugarpop list for my Book Riot list ? It would probably makes it easier to finish ! XD"I think that's what I'm going to do. If I have a book that fits both challenges I'll use it for both...

I might check into these, but I'd be interested in other lists people have come across. I tend to read cross genre already and books that fit alot of these catagories, so I guess a challenge that has more specific 'scavenger hunt' type items would intrigue me. I'll explore a bit myself and post if I find any good ones. ;)
And here's for the Read Harder Challenge !https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Skipped the audiobook though, I can't concentrate on these... :(
I've been waiting to official join in on group activities until 2015. I'm on it and whatever our January selections are :) awesome!!
Here is my blog post with my reading list. I combined the categories from both the PopSugar and BookRiot lists, doubled up on some, and omitted some. Looking forward to pushing myself to read more! Especially things that I normally wouldn't pick up!http://www.marielmohns.com/2014/12/20...
Inspired by Nerdish Mum, I reunited all my books for the challenges on one shelf with some explanations on each book : https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...(Yes, classify stuff and classifying it again is one of my main hobbies)
Clémence wrote: "Inspired by Nerdish Mum, I reunite all my books for the challenge on one shelf with some explanations on each book : https://www.goodreads.com/review/list......"I didn't even think about classifying my books on here! Smart idea. I have a Google Doc with all the books & themes and I'm just keeping it up to date. :)
Also, I'm really loving everyone's lists! Some of your choices I've read, and you guys have all picked good books.
I decided to do both challenges but haven't made lists - I thought I'd read what I fancied and try and slot into a category and then have a major panic in October or so when I haven't read any from categories I don't really fancy :-) That said does anyone have an opinion on whether "Time Untime" counts as an antonym because it fits the definition but technically untime isn't a word?!?!?
Fay wrote: "I decided to do both challenges but haven't made lists - I thought I'd read what I fancied and try and slot into a category and then have a major panic in October or so when I haven't read any from..."I like your plan ;) I'd say go with Time Untime, it definitely fits the description whether it is a real word or not.
That's my plan of action too Fay. My to-read list is far too big. I need to wittle it down, so will be using as many books as possible for the challenges
Clémence wrote: "Inspired by Nerdish Mum, I reunited all my books for the challenges on one shelf with some explanations on each book : https://www.goodreads.com/review/list......"I'm really impressed with how much organisation has gone into your shelves. When I started on here I was determined to just have read and to be read shelves, but as time got on I keep adding more :) It's addictive isn't it?!
Nerdish wrote: "I'm really impressed with how much organisation has gone into your shelves."It's nice to have appreciation for it :') Yes it's totally addictive, especially for someone like me who's obsessed by organizing stuff.
But maybe I should stick on one language instead of labelling half of them in French and the others in English...

I think if you're reading some in French, some in English, definitely have them listed seperately. If I read something in a different language I will certainly be putting that on :)
Katie wrote: "Challenge accepted! :DA book with more than 500 pages - A Clash of Kings

Some awesome choices! :)
@Nerdish : I read almost exclusively in French since it's my mother tongue; I have tried to read books in English with various level of success...But it's often a little bit frustrating for me when the language is a bit complicated because I know I miss things. :(
@Katie : Lolita and The Stand are among my favorites ! *__*
Should we talk about the books we've read for the challenge on this thread or start a different one? Don't want to over run the group with 50 new threads! ! :)
Jennifer wrote: "Should we talk about the books we've read for the challenge on this thread or start a different one? Don't want to over run the group with 50 new threads! ! :)"I'll post 50 threads! It's not too much of a hassle, honestly, and that way it can be seperate! I'll try posting them all soon, because I know we're not all reading the books in order. :)
I know it sounds a lot, but I like the idea of seperate threads for each topic :) and yay I'm loving being able to join in with the bookworms!
I've stormed the new year and knocked 4 off the list already - I've done a love triangle, a place I'd like to visit, a graphic novel and a book you can read in a day. I'm just reading the hobbit now as a book with none human characters and as the book club pick. This will be slowing down as real life resumes after the break from work :-) how's everyone else doing?
Thanks Elizabeth! 50 threads makes more sense, just didn't want to overrun everything.
Now I just need to read a relevant book :-p
@Fay : Just like you, I've already read 3 books and will probably finish another one today... But I guess my numbers will drop on monday !
I have a house with kids but I have invited a load of their friends round and thrown them upstairs in the bedrooms :-) guaranteed child free afternoon (and they have to clean the room before they leave or they can't come back which is harsh but necessary lol)
@clemence thanks. I think it's amazing that you're reading in two languages. My next door neighbour is French living in the uk and reads exclusively in English and it amazes me.
Look at you awesome ladies! Still on my first book, but I did have work this last week + several house guests throughout the week. Not very conducive to reading much!

Any other book club members interested should participate, too! Even if you're not doing this particular challenge, feel free to post another challenge on here, too. This won't count towards book club achievements, I just thought it would be fun to get a thread going on here discussing challenges. That way we can discuss what else we're reading that's not book club related, and maybe even give out suggestions to each other!
Feel free to post your challenge lists below, I'm going to, too!
