SOLVED. Fiction- possibly YA- About a (ghost?) horse. [s]

SPOILERS, I have a vague memory of how the book begins, and how it ended. So I'm just going to call it a huge spoiler and leave it at that.




This book is about a girl and a horse. One night she wakes up and sees a horse outside her window. I want to say her family had either just moved, or she was visiting for the summer. Either way, she was in a new place and didn't know many people. Somehow, she starts helping/working at a ranch out in the woods, there is a girl and a boy who work there already. Also, the horse there that earlier on she saw out her window is also at this ranch. I don’t remember what happens next, but towards the end there is a huge storm and the girl saves the horse by getting him out of a river. Then at the end of the book the ranch disappears and it turns out that it had been abandoned for years and she’d been talking to ghosts.

I read this book in like, 2005 when I was in third grade. I recall it being a very thick book, but its been so long my memory could be wrong.
