I love paperbackswap.com I have only one problem with the site I can never pick out the books that I want. So,I have a handful of credits (just shipped a book yesterday) and I need to pick out some books. Any suggestions?
I really am picky how I spend my pbs credits they are like gold to me. So give me some GOOD suggestions on a book i just HAVE to have in my library.

Amanda (randymandy) | 467 comments Have you read The Red Tent by Anita Daimant? I didn't see it on your shelves. I really loved it. It was epic almost...

Sara | 53 comments Ohhhh I just finished The Red Tent! I wish I had read it before I had my daughters. It would have been an amazing read while pregnant...it's a must read for any woman.

how have I missed this book? With the two of you recommending it i immediatly went to look at it. Looks so interesting! They had it and I ordered it.
Keep the suggestions coming. I have more credits!

Peanut | 149 comments The Red Tent was a good book.

How about:

Life of Pi

She's Come Undone (An Oprah pick - I was actually surprised. I didn't know that before I read this. I have been very disappointed in Oprah's picks. They just aren't my style. I had had this for along time before I picked it up and I thoroughly enjoyed it).

Bel Canto - I really enjoyed this book. I didn't know how the writer was going to carry the story plot for so many pages but it was real good.

Jules (juliemetz) | 27 comments I just finished The Bean Trees (Barbara Kingsolver) and LOVED it, I was looking up other books of hers and The Poisonwood Bible seems to be the most loved book of hers from the reviews I've read.

Kristin | 1 comments Have you read Wild Swan? An amazing, true story of women in China from the emperial age through current times. A friend of mine, who adopted a daughter from China, sent it to me. It is beautifully written and a fantastic story.

Kristen | 0 comments I really like Wally Lamb's I Know This Much Is True. It is loooonnnggg but a great book, especially since I am in the mental health field...

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) i'm drawing a blank right now, but i 2nd wally lamb's "she's come undone." i read it when it was first out in paperback (before it was an oprah's book club selection) and it consumed me until i finished it! very emotional, very very emotional! (was for me anyway!) i haven't double checked your books, but have you read "where the heart is" by billie letts? i read that when it first came out in paperback (about the same time as she's come undone) and also before it was an o selection! (gee, i was ahead of the times!) i LOVE this book! truly wonderful!

Holli I found this to be an interesting question from Tera.....what books do you spend your PBS credits on? I tend to spend them on books I know I want to add to my collection. Defeats the purpose, I know!

Want to add to your collection? Which collection, of books in general or in catagories of those books you are interested in at the time?

Defeats what purpose? To spend less money on books? To get rid of books?

$50 worth co credits (that is about 16 or 17 ) books in a one week period and I knew it was just a cheaper shopping binge, like some women do shoes or garage sales. I'll never get all of these read. Like having to much Thanksgiving dinner every day of the year.

But I spend most of mine of collections of short stories, a lot on Shakespeare, several books of essays or nonfictions collections. It depends on what I am interested at the time. But it is as addictive as the computor or the iPod.

Holli The collection I was referring to is the collection if books that I own and don't want to part with. I enjoy paperbackswap as it lets me get rid of books I'm ready to part with and get a credit for them so I can pick books out I'd like to own and keep. It defeats the purpose by doing that because I then keep alot of the books I'm requesting and so I don't get as many credits to spend. Tends to break down the cycle of swapping.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) I second The Friday Night Knitting Club and She's Come Undone, both on my all time fav's list.

Also, Beach Girls and Light on Snow (also on my all time fav's list)

Elizabeth (Alaska) Books I've read in the last year that have stuck with me, if not literally, then figuratively, are:

Stones from the River
The Birth House

Both are about very different, but strong, independent women.
