Thank you so much Tien. Yes, I really need to strike that one off my list. It has been sitting on my shelf for many months now . I am counting on this challenge to finally give me the nudge to finish reading the book.

Haha! I was going to say, I've read about half that list (I think the other half are pretty much on my TBR list) and they are mostly some really good reads! If it was me I'd read the first 3, skip to the last one, back up to 12. From there, I can't say because there are too many in there that I haven't read yet!
Hi Amogha ;)

2012 & 2013 are catching up!

Hello Tien and Amanda,
I chose the ones I have been wanting to read for a long time now with the exception of a couple of them. I ticked off The Bell Jar first.
I was able place an order for a particular edition of the book that I was eyeing for eight long months and there was no way I could wait a minute more :D
The sequence you have suggested seems to be a good way to go about it . But, I am actually trying to space out the various genres so that I give time between the books that belong to similar genre.
Also, I have to compel myself to first read the books from the list that are gathering dust in my shelf back home. Tsundoku horrors I tell you !
Let me see how my mood guides me around it. :)
P.S I am going to take a look at your list of books as soon as I am done posting this comment:D

oh geez, I had to re-read the rules a few times, lol, kinda forgotten all about it now ha ha ha
um, I don't think I'd configure a rule for adding more books when the shelf has changed spots! So, whatever you've done is fine :)
You've still got new shelves on your list so it's all good.

I only posted the first 24 books when this began but had continued to roll. I ended up quitting at 65 as I got tired of rolling. I kept a separate list on Excel with all the rolls and books. My goal is to finish the 24 by the end of the year and so far I have read 7/24. So with one more, I will be right on track.
However, of the other 41, I have also read 7. They just happened to be on other challenges. I wasn't trying to read them for Moving Mountains. I mean, with 65 books, some have to cross over, right?

I keep finding the same books on shelves, so I was purposely trying to pick more random ones to try and get different books/shelves

2004 is still in the lead and gaining. :)

I've finished 3 more since I last posted here:
World Without End - finished 4/10
Sharp Objects - finished 4/14
2012: Bitterblue - finished 4/22
That means 8 out of 30 so far.

2014 is still in the lead but finally read a book from 2011! Woohoo!

I'm going to increase my total to 30 and I'm going to see if I can end up with 3 books from 2011 & 9 from 2012, 2013 & 2014.

Yes, it's a good feeling. A lot of them have been good books too so I'm happy about that.

I forget how long ago I've updated this. But I just finished I'll Give You the Sun, which means I've done 10 of 24. It sounded good to me, but the widget says I'm 2 books behind schedule. Oh, well.

2014 is still ahead but I've read lots of books from earlier years. 2012 is in the double digits and 2010 made the cut!
I'm not putting a limit for this challenge and just seeing how far I can go. I've been reading a lot of interesting shelves too. :)

I'm doing great if I say so myself, LOL! Pretty much every book I've chosen in the last few months has been with this challenge in mind so I've read lots of good things off the TBR. Right now at I'm at 37 so I'm thinking I'll probably make 60 or 70 if I keep it up. The only thing is that I'll be reading a lot of obscure shelves! Right now I've had to go more than halfway through the first column of shelves as I'm trying not to do different spellings of the same shelf, i.e. if I've read Young Adult, I skip YA, etc.
Double Wow! I love how you've gone and added extra bits of challenges -i really like the sound of 'obscure shelves'

LOL, thanks!

DG, If you look on my science fiction shelf, you'll find lots of books that qualify as "space opera," though I don't use that shelf myself. It's basically science fiction that takes place in space, often with wars going on. Sort of a sweeping story, not focused on a small planet or people like Ursula LeGuin's usually are. Many of Orson Scott Card's would count, for example, and I highly recommend the Ender's Game series. And yes, I admire OSC as an author even though his homophobia makes me sick as a person.
[Oops. Posted this before I saw someone else had already answered in another thread. Nevertheless, feel free to browse my scifi shelf if my ratings might help you choose a book to read.]

I read Among Others Jo Walton, which turned out to belong on this month's shelf. That makes 11/24 down, but one of the remaining books is Ulysses. Not sure whether that'll happen this year.

oh wow, well done, Susan!
That will take some Serious Commitment though so feel free to change it to another book, if you want, and maybe tackle Ulysses first thing next year or something like a New Year's Resolution ;)

I thought of trying the audio book, since I'm so bad at reading accents. It takes 29 hours. That would be a little over an hour a week between now and the end of the year. That might be do-able.

wow, 29 hours!!
I've a feeling though since it's such a hard book, if it was me, I'd probably need to read along with the audio to get anything out of it. Let me know how you go :)

I have read Ulysses and, apart from the last chapter, ( I hate stream of consciousness, so may be biased ), it's not THAT bad or difficult. I would never be game enough to try Finnegans Wake, and still find Virginia Woolf terrifying, but I am trying to read Mrs. Dalloway at the moment. I am finding it just doesn't really grab me, more than being difficult ( so instead I am reading The Hunger Games which I have on several shelves, to keep me going! )

Charity, I'm glad to see this review. I picked the book up at my daughter's house and began reading it there. Have been wondering whether I should get it from the library to finish it. It sounds like at least the last chapter is worth it.

In the last month, I've read 3 books from 2010.

I thought this was a really fun way of choosing books and tackling my ever growing and never shrinking to read list. I would love to play again if we do it next year.

We will have a different variation next year ;)

I finished The Twelve. According to the widget, I'm still behind (9 out of 24 still to go). But I still have hopes of finishing before the year is out.
