Hi all,

I'm looking for a science fiction book. I'm pretty sure it came out in the 80's because I originally heard about it in book review column in Dragon magazine and the 80's were when I was an RPG'r.

I said most of what I remember in the topic.

Science fiction tale where the main character (I think living on a dystopian world though I'm not sure of this) has the ability to summon objects from parallel dimensions. He uses this ability to summon objects to become wealthy.

Eventually, he uses his wealth to start helping people, and becomes a sort of Messiah figure on his world.

It was a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure that's an accurate summation

Believe it or not... I gave that a perusing and I found it.

I knew it was an author name I'd recognize so I just started scrolling down the authors looking for one that rang a bell.

It was The Man in the Tree, by Damon Knight
