It's a book about about different mysteries and strange happenings. One story is about "the last man to die in the war" (WWI). Another story is about a woman whose husband is away and who is woken up by a mysterious punch to the face. She later learns the same thing happened to her husband at the same time. A third story is about a woman who sees an appararition of a young boy at the top of her staircase. Years later, she comes across the boy while tending to the wounded during a war.
