YA Dystopian. Girl lives in secure dome. Boy sneaks in asking for help finding a cure for the “outsiders”. Read 2016-2018. Spoiler ahead.

In 2016-18 I read a book about a girl who lived in a secure community I think in domes, because of a war or something. That left little food. One day her first boyfriend (who was kicked out with his father) comes to her and asked for her help finding a cure for a little girl. The main girl ends up helping hm and sneaking out to meet hm and the rest of the outsiders. Turns out the cure is to help stop people from turning into vampires I think..

Isn’t there a bit in the Shanananananaan??? Series like that? Terry Brooks maybe? Can’t remember why the guy was on the outside, but she was helping him by giving him limited availability drugs. Don’t think it was vamps, just penicillins or the like. He was living with a bunch of kids?

Should have looked it up first. Here is a link to one of the books in the Shannara series. No idea which book it would be in, or if it was a different series, but I would have been reading them around the same time (15ish years ago). I don’t remember elves or vamps specifically attached to the boy/girl/dome/medication plot I was thinking of, but there WAS magic. Dystopian. Things and people had changed, but I think most were still average Joes. The ‘modern’ world was just ruins to scavenge in and pretty old by that point.

Spoilers, the girl (and maybe the boy who was an outsider) was thrown off the roof in public execution for being found guilty of sharing the medication with outsiders... but magic happened while she was falling to intervene.
