That's amazing! I also had a (very drawn out) adoption reunion. Met my mother at 29, met everyone else at 42, saw the photos at 50. Then I spent the next ten years working with my sister to collect family memoirs. https://www.mwalkeristra.com/bio
Finally, I based the story world of my novel (His Most Italian City published by Penmore Press 2019) on the memoirs, although the novel is actually an historical thriller. For me, this was a good way of preserving the information but for you to actually find a publisher to submit to I would advise having a look online, at bookstores and libraries (when we are allowed out of doors). Find something that is similar to yours and approach that publisher. That's what I did.
People love human interest stories. There's heaps in our library. I turned my story into a thriller because that's what worked for me.
All the best with your book,
Margaret

Thanks Margaret for sharing your story. My book has already been written and published. I was asking where I might further release it.
The book is more than about adoption but rather it is about finding your "personhood". Who are we? Are we our family name? Are we our employment? Are we our reputation?
This is even more important to us adoptees who had our origin and heritage taken away from us. We've had to invent who we are.

I would like to read it. I have a kobo ereader or am I able to purchase a hard copy?
The question of self is just huge. I finally found peace when I visited the village in Croatia where my mother was born. I was 58. Australia is a nation of immigrants and we certainly lack the secure knowledge of a family that has been in the one place and the one culture for centuries. Add adoption to that and you can end up with a person roaming through life not sure who they are.
A further confusion was my mother's decision to take up Yugoslav nationality after the war while her parents became Italian.
What a mess!
Cheers,
Margaret
