If you could bring one fictional character to life in today's world, who would it be? It can be a character that would help you personally, help the world politically, ... whatever. Tell us which character and why.

LindaJ^ (lindajs) | 2548 comments The fictional character that immediately popped into my mind was from TV as opposed to a book -- President Jeb Bartlett. I want a President who tells the truth and leads by example.

The second was a real person now dead -- CBS new anchor Walter Cronkite. I want a newsperson I respect and trust and who doesn't sensationalize. He got me through the Kennedy (and other) assassinations and Vietnam. I would feel much better, perhaps even comforted, if I could turn on the 6 o'clock national news and find Walter there - regardless of how depressing the news might be.

Pretty hard not to like Jeb Bartlett, Linda, especially at a time like this! I haven't watched televised news in... let's just say a long time. The segments are too short to do justice to most of the topics and it feels like everything is sensationalized.

Well, I think we’re done here, Marc!

Great resurrection, LindaJ, really nice! ;)

Bretnie | 838 comments Kilgore Trout from many of Kurt Vonnegut's novels would be a fascinating character to bring to life. He wouldn't be particularly helpful to society, but he might be entertaining?

Bryan--The Bee’s Knees (theindefatigablebertmcguinn) | 245 comments That's kind of interesting--wasn't it Kilgore Trout in Timequake that got everyone to wake up and start living again after the quake? He shook them and shouted, 'You've been very sick, and now you're well again!' (I looked it up to make sure--it was Trout)

He was able to get everyone to work making things normal again.

One of Vonnegut's better books, I thought.

NICE! Then yes, I definitely nominate him. :) Thanks for the reminder Bryan!
