Awww, I feel your pain- I had one last night. Increased water intake, pain relief and sleep helped mine. Hope you are feeling better.

Ha- I wish I had picked an old silhouette book instead:-) Maybe, it was really good at the time of release but I 'm not connecting with any of the characters. Hopefully, you are enjoying it more than me! If I don't finish mine tonight then I will tomorrow. (in between the birthday celebrations for my daughter- I'm going to make her chocolate cupcakes)

Linda | 234 comments Thank you for the well wishes! I feel much better. A lot of darkness and rest. Sometimes I just have days like this.

And happy birthday to your daughter, Laura!!

I also did not like the Book, Haha!! I agree - very hard to connect with any of the characters. I am usually not the one to hate on Main Characters just because they may be mean or don't act the way I would - but Elena really had to be the most unlikeable character I read in a while. It's funny to me as I watched the tvshow when it first came out (10 years ago lol) and if I remember correctly in the show Elena is basically a wallflower. And not Mrs High School Mean Girl.

I will check us in!

message 409: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments I loved the show when it was on that’s really disappointing but better to know now not to go back and read it.

And that sounds Elena is like her doppelgänger Katherine in the book.

message 410: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Yes !! And its funny because Katherine in the book (To be honest, the flashbacks are the only thing I liked about the book.) is a very timid, fragile Girl. They probably switched it up to make people stick to it more. Makes sense.

And fun fact: In the book Elena is blonde. I guess thats not such a big deal but I tried imagining Nina Dobrev as a blonde and ... Nope. LOL

message 411: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Thanks Linda! ( she also said thanks)
I made her pancakes for brunch, made cupcakes( she's so much better at decorating cupcakes then me) and put up balloons and streamers while she walked the dog. We will have tacos for supper( one of her faves) and go for icecream later and probably watch a movie.

message 412: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments Happy Birthday to your daughter Laura and that sounds like a great day!

message 413: by Geri (new)

Geri | 639 comments Yes, that sounds like a wonderful birthday! I wish I could have carbs like that! LOL Oh to be young again and burn it off! 😃

message 414: by Geri (new)

Geri | 639 comments That’s interesting about the Vampire Diaries book. I watched the show too. Glad I never read the books.

MountainKat | 31755 comments Here is Task 12:

49. Read 6 books featuring cowboys.

Remember to let me know how you know that your book qualifies. Saying 'hero is a cowboy' is not enough. Is it in the precis, title, series name, tags or on a list?

PS - Linda, I hope you are feeling better!

PPS - A couple of you had your last task task marked as #12, but it was #11.

message 417: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Oh god, cowboys. Really not my area :'D Any suggestions?? I wouldn't even know where to start looking.

message 418: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments and Thank you Kat! :D

Laura | 2514 comments Linda wrote: "Oh god, cowboys. Really not my area :'D Any suggestions?? I wouldn't even know where to start looking."

I've read a few but sorry it's always a book I stumble across so I can't retrieve a title for you. Here are some lists:

Favorite Western/Cowboy Romances
Best Cowboy Romance Books

There are a lot more ( there's even a YA cowboy list)

message 420: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments I'm going to start with this sizzling book - it's a shortie so I can probably do another:-)

Cowboy Heat (Hell Yeah!, #1) by Sable Hunter

message 421: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Yeah I found some german ones on KU too, most of them sizzling too and some of them with Baby plotlines !?? Is that a niche I didnt know about? Hahaha

I will see what I find. Thanks for the lists!!!

message 422: by Geri (new)

Geri | 639 comments Yes, baby is a niche in Harlequin etc. type of romance, Linda.

I have a few bookmarked on escape. It’s not my favorite sub genre. But it’s nice to read something different sometimes. I will try to find something short too!

message 423: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Here are a few I 've read though I know I 've read more: ( perhaps pre goodreads?)

Loving Cara (Love Under the Big Sky, #1) by Kristen Proby tagged cowboys ( 1st page of tags, 1st column)
The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks tagged cowboys

message 424: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Ohhh. I never actually read Nicholas Sparks but this one sounds nice!!! Unfortunately I can only get it from my library once it opens back up. I saved it for later.

For the task I will also pick a mega shorty I find on KU and get it done with quickly. Probably: The Cowboy’s Contract Marriage

message 432: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments Geri, I feel the same way!!

message 433: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments I have enjoyed all the tasks so far and look forward to seeing what else we get for tasks even though I might not have enjoyed all of my book choices.

message 434: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments I like how it feels like we are really racing when we get the new task.

message 435: by Linda (new)

Linda | 234 comments I love that too. When i see the notif for a new task it really feels like that moment in Amazing race when they rip their little task sachets Hahah

message 436: by Geri (new)

Geri | 639 comments Yes, it is exciting when a new task is posted. So many possibilities!

The second book was worse than the first western. The hero was such a jerk at first. I got turned off. Sometimes I don’t mind this. But I have to be in the right mood.

Linda | 234 comments Thank you,Laura!!!

And no worries!! Enjoy the time with your parents!! (or what does Bubble mean? I hope its something enjoyable?!)

No problem, I never mind helping with a check in.

Definitely it will be enjoyable. I see lots of games, cards and kayaking in the next couple of days.
"Bubble" means that two different households (immediate family) can now interact with each other (but only each other) and we won't have to social distance. Technology is great and we have taken advantage of video chats but an in person visit with hugs is going to be absolutely awesome- I suspect there will be a few happy tears.

message 447: by Alissa (new)

Alissa | 161 comments That is awesome Laura enjoy it!

message 448: by Geri (new)

Geri | 639 comments I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! It is beautiful here and I’ve been out most of the day. I’ll check later for our next task.

message 449: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31755 comments Here is luck Task 13:

37. Read 6 books by authors who use initials in their name.

Examples would be J.R. Ward, Jennifer L. Armentrout. or T.J. Klune. Please provide a link to the author's page in your completion post.

message 450: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31755 comments Sorry, you didn't enjoy your cowboys - I wish I had noticed your discussion, I know several good ones!

PS - Nicholas Sparks wouldn't know a happy ending if it bit him in the butt! His books aren't romance in the definition of the genre - there is no HEA, someone always dies! 😂 Nothing wrong with that, as long as you know going in. 😉
