message 110: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 500 comments Sorry guys I'm making a change! Turns out I have already read Eidolon.
So I'm reading Changeless by Gail Carriger (336 pages)

message 111: by Deanie (new)

Deanie Nelder | 87 comments So, I the book I was reading wasn't doing it for me, so I found another book to read (or two, really, to make up the 400ish pages that are my share of the work... but Goodreads has the page count really wrong on one of them... like, should be 244 and is 164. Which is frustrating. I mean, I don't mind reading more in the series (they're all 1 word titles), but I'd like to get credit for what I'm actually reading.

message 112: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments Yeah that’s quite frustrating! But you wouldn’t have to read 400 pages. Just reading one book should suffice. My book is 512 pages, Autumn’s is 335 and nikitha’s is 330. So we have 1100 pages :)

I'm bad at math. It should have been approximately 300 pages each. But I ended up reading two books that qualify anyway. I'm interested to know what you think about Whiteout. I read it last month.

Alright! I got through it. I was an inch from DNF'ing this book but I'm so glad I didn't! My main complaint is that this story is more romance than action. I went in expecting something like a Clive Cussler or a James Rollins, with very subtle romance, heroing the action, but this book was just romance through and through. The first 10% of the book was alright, the last 30% was fantastic. The rest of it was unnecessary details, happening in one giant loop with Cooper and Angel eating, sleeping and skiing. My other complaint is that even after 500 pages, we don't know much about the (view spoiler) I really did enjoy the realistic description of Antarctica and the weather, I liked both Coop and Angel, and I liked the idea of this book. Will I see the series through? Probably not.

Is this page count accurate? The link you have is to the paperback (334 pages). The kindle editions all seem to be over 400 pages. Do you mind checking quickly? Thanks!

Deanie Nelder | 87 comments I got the librarians to revise my page count, since it was way off.

I loved the beginning of Whiteout, then it got boring in the middle, and then they seemed to lose track of everything but having sex, and then it got good at the end. It's like the author couldn't decide if she was writing a thriller or a romance novel and couldn't put the two together properly. Can you tell the book frustrated me?

I need you to correct to the Kindle first edition page count - 335 isn't listed on any edition.

Once the correction is made, I will assign the next task.

message 126: by Autumn (new)

Autumn Miller | 130 comments Hi Kat! I just double checked and it says 335 kindle edition. Is there a way for me to send a screen shot? Did you double check that you looked at Shooter by dahlia west? It’s part of the burnout series. I know there’s another book called shooter by someone else.

message 127: by Autumn (new)

Autumn Miller | 130 comments I got the page count from the Kindle App, if that helps.

message 128: by Autumn (new)

Autumn Miller | 130 comments I looked it up on goodreads and it says the kindle edition is 472 pages. 🤷🏻‍♀️

message 129: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments Ha another page count issue like Deanie had!

I suppose we can use 472

message 130: by MountainKat, Moderator (last edited Apr 26, 2020 07:26PM) (new)

MountainKat | 31883 comments I followed your link, I was looking at the right book. We are using the GR Kindle first edition page count for this challenge. That edition for your book is listed on GR as 425 pages. You will likely get a different number from the Kindle app.

I will accept the efforts you've made because of the confusion and assign the next task. Going forward I am going to be more strict about completions though. 😊

Autumn Miller | 130 comments Sounds good! Thanks 👍👍

message 132: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31883 comments Here is Task 6:

54. Read a minimum of 1200 pages in books of the same sub-genre, but by different authors.

First pick a sub-genre and then make sure you all select different authors. Make sure you use the first edition Kindle page count from GR in your completion posts!

message 133: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments Awesome thank you :)

Alright, what sub genres are we interested in? This is from our initial discussion. I’ve no preference, so you guys let me know :)

Sub-genre, Tropes:
Aiswrya: I'm okay with anything that isn't dark, disturbing and involving love triangles. My favorite sub genres are paranormal, urban fantasy, RH, YA, NA.
Deanie: fake relationship, military romance (is that trope?), friends to lovers
Nikitha: friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, arranged marriages eventually leading to love, small town romances, fake relationships, historical. Under non romance, I like fantasy, paranormal, murder mysteries, adventures, etc
Autumn: I love most romance books 😆 but my favorites are enemies to lovers, slow burns, paranormal/urban fantasy, romantic suspense, marriage of convenience. I’m willing to give anything a chance though.

message 134: by Autumn (new)

Autumn Miller | 130 comments I’m leaning towards paranormal/urban fantasy or enemies to lovers but I’ll read whatever the group decides.

message 135: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments I don’t think enemies to lovers is a sub genre, is it? I’m good with paranormal too. I’ve a really good historical paranormal romance that I’ve been meaning to read! Nikitha and Deanie, what do you both think?

message 136: by Deanie (new)

Deanie Nelder | 87 comments Paranormal/urban fantasy would be good but I'm ok with anything but horror or historical.

message 137: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 500 comments Hey guys! Paranormal/urban fantasy seems like the popular choice. I'm good with it too

message 138: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments Perfect :) I’ll post my choice tomorrow. Headed to bed now

message 139: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 500 comments Okay guys I'm picking
Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews
Happy reading!

Perfect, how many pages would that be? We have to read 1200 pages, so just want to make sure we get to that number :)

message 141: by Aiswrya (last edited Apr 27, 2020 07:12AM) (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments I'm reading Oath Taker by Audrey Grey - 317 pages

message 142: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 500 comments Mine is 276 pages

message 143: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments Okay cool, we are at 593 pages

message 144: by Deanie (new)

Deanie Nelder | 87 comments I'm reading Spellbound in Salem by Milly Taiden which is 284 pages. It's a really good, easy read and is on Kindle Unlimited, so if we need more pages I could read book 2 in the series.

message 145: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 500 comments Does it count if we read the next book in a series? Because it's supposed to be different authors right? If not, mine is a series too!

message 146: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments Ooh good point. Let me ask Kat on the Q&A group

message 147: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments We are at 877 pages now. Need another 323 pages :)

message 148: by Autumn (new)

Autumn Miller | 130 comments I’m looking through books now. I’ll let you know the pages as soon as pick one.

message 149: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2053 comments Kat said no to series. She needs all books to be by different authors.

message 150: by Autumn (new)

Autumn Miller | 130 comments I’m reading Angel’s Blood by Nalini Singh. 372 pages
