Yeah, more and more of the US is trying to head that direction. Washington has passed a law to stay on daylight time year round (rather than standard time), and several other states are trying to do the same thing. Unfortunately we need the federal gov't to take action (one of two options) before our law can take effect so I'm not holding my breath that it'll happen anytime soon!

Courtney | 2931 comments That sucks. It's so much easier. Adjusting for that hour is so much more difficult than it seems!

Courtney | 2931 comments Man, way harder to find a blue book than I thought! I must be bad with colors, because everything I think is blue comes up grey on Tineye!

I thought this would work, Letter from a Rake (The Duke of Strathmore, #1) by Sasha Cottman , but Tineye says it's only 22% blue!

message 404: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments Ok, I'm going with this one The Duke Buys a Bride (The Rogue Files, #3) by Sophie Jordan

TinEye says the two top colors are shade of blue, with a total of almost 70%

Courtney, I'm sure this one would be fine if you'd rather read it.
Kat only uses Tineye if she's torn by just looking at it, and I think that one is definitely blue!

message 406: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments That's good to know. I think I'll just keep with the second one anyway. Seems cute 😄

Ooh I read this. Jane rec'ed it to me. I liked it...kinda. I had the same issue, but I also felt short changed because they kept the relationship a secret for so long and when they were ready to come out about it, the book ended with them moving to a different state.

message 409: by Courtney (last edited May 19, 2020 04:34PM) (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments Yeah, the ending was super rushed and just kind of stopped. I honestly don't remember if they even decided to move because everything was so lumped together in those last two chapters. Jake's friend, Troy, sees them kissing, and they find out it doesn't bother him, and then the book just ends. It was definitely a let down after really enjoying the first half.

Exactly!
Courtney are we friends? I need to be able to see your book reviews.

message 411: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments hahaha we are friends. I was searching my friend's reviews of this book and couldn't find yours.

I was looking for your photo with the white background. I forgot you updated your photo.

message 412: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments 🤣. Yeah, I updated it, but not sure if I'll switch back or not. My old one was definitely easier to pick out. But Yang2020 is over, so I thought it was time to move on 😄

I read this YEARS ago...it was one of the first m/m romances I read. I don't remember a lot about it after this long, but I looked back at my short review (back then I actually attempted to write them) and it said the same thing both of you have been saying - loved the story overall, but a lot was left hanging at the end.

Wow we all felt the same way. And Karen, I think this was my first m/m romance too.

Wait...no. I read the other one Jane rec'ed me Tournament of Losers. I started and stopped this book for about 6 months to a year before I decided to push through the beginning.
So, glad I did because it was a great introduction into the M/M world.

message 416: by Courtney (last edited May 19, 2020 10:16PM) (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments My first m/m was a terrible shifter one, and it really turned me off to the genre for a long time. It just felt like the author originally wrote a m/f romance and then changed the pronouns.

I gave the Captive Prince series a try, and was blown away by it. One of the best series I've ever read, but I didn't know if I could ever find another m/m romance as good as that. Then, after reading Good Boy, I wanted to know more about Jamie and Wes, so I read Him. Loved, loved, loved! So now I'm trying to branch out and try some more.

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments Hey all, we need 6 books for this task. I'm about halfway through my 2nd one and should finish it later today. Does anyone else have a 2nd blue cover on their short list?

message 418: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments Omg, I didn't even see it was 6.🤦‍♀️

I'll finish my first this afternoon. I have like 30 pages left. I can check and see if I have something short that's blue to start after.

MountainKat | 31670 comments Here is lucky Task 13:

21. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task.

You can do the recommendations however you wish - to the group, to each individual, to the person below you on the list or ?? - it's up to you. If you want to provide a specific shelf to pick from, it needs to have a minimum of 10 book on it.

message 429: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments Ok, we need to make recommendations. How about if everyone posts a list of 5-10 of our favorites, and we can all pick from each other's lists? Kat did say a while back that the series rule applies, so that makes things a lot easier.

No problem. And if you have a "favorites" shelf or something like that and would rather just link that, that works too. No rush though, RL has to come first, whether we want it to or not! 😂

message 432: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (last edited May 21, 2020 01:51PM) (new)

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments Here's a list of some of my favorites. Since Kat is allowing the series rule to be in effect, any books that are part of a series I just gave the first book in the series, even if that wasn't my actual favorite.

Series:
Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey (Kowalski Family)
Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare (I-Team)
Hard as It Gets by Laura Kaye (Hard Ink)
Naked in Death by J.D. Robb (In Death)
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh (Psi-Changeling)
Surrender by Pamela Clare (MacKinnon's Rangers)

Stand-Alones:
Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan
Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words by Tara Sivec and Andi Arndt
Into Deep Waters by Kaje Harper
A Reason To Believe by Diana Copland

message 433: by [deleted user] (new)

Here is my list, as Karen, I picked first in series.

Series:
The Duke and I by Julia Quinn - The Bridgertons
Act Like It by Lucy Parker - London Celebrities
Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry - Thunder Road
The Perfect Match by Kristan Higgins - Blue Heron

Stand-Alones:
If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins
The Honey-Don't List by Christina Lauren
One More Summer by Liz Flaherty
The Night Mark by Tiffany Reisz

Courtney | 2931 comments Ok, here are my favs:

Best Historical
The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt
Guilty Pleasures by Laura Lee Guhrke
The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare
The Chief by Monica McCarty

Best Contemporary
Pucked by Helena Hunting
Zack by Sawyer Bennett (Not first in series, but my fav. I think easily read as stand alone)
Irresistible by Melanie Harlow

Best Paranormal / Sci-fi
The Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley (Not first in series, but there's no mention of anything in the first book til the last chapter. Was the first book I read in the series)
Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon

Best Over the Top Smut
The Christmas Toy by Krista Wolf

Best Emotional
Harlot by Victoria Dahl (This is the second book in the series, but you don't need to read the first. I never read the first. This book has some super heavy parts, so only read if you're in the mood!)
