Crap... I didn't realize that at all. I should have looked first. I'm so sorry... let me see what I can read quick on audio tomorrow

I will take the pass then :) Thank you and so sorry!!

On the plus side, that book was really good lol

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments That's a definite plus...if you'd struggled through it for nothing, that would just be sad!

message 506: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments It looks really good, actually. I put it on my TBR, too!

message 507: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments Sarah, I'm not sure if Kat is requiring them or not, but will you go ahead and do a completion post for this task? You can just put 'PASS' instead of the book info and qualification. Thanks!

message 508: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments Task 15 - Completion
75. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.

Trope chosen: Second Chance

Buried (Bone Secrets, #3) by Kendra Elliot Buried
Pages: 362 (Kindle Version)
Completed: May 30, 2020
Qualification: Tagged "second chance" by 1 person

I edited my post with PASS

MountainKat | 31671 comments Here is your next task:

43. Each teammate reads a book that has been read by one of the RRRC moderators. No pass for this task.

There is no date requirement for this task. Your chosen book just needs to be on a moderator's shelf marked as read and rated. Please provide a link to the moderator's shelf or review in your completion.

Karen, you are not allowed a reread unless one of the other mods read it! 😉

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments MountainKat wrote: "Karen, you are not allowed a reread unless one of the other mods read it! 😉"

No, but since I can use your shelves, I'm good! 🤣🤣🤣 And I actually think at least a couple (maybe more) of my new crop of M&G books are on your "read" shelf...

In case any of you aren't aware, Kat and I pretty much share a brain in many ways, so me being able to read from her shelves is basically the same as reading from my own!

message 512: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments The list Chan made with links to all the mods' shelves can be found in msg #35, task #43. I'm feeling too lazy today to post it here since I can't just copy/paste, I'd have to recreate it. My brain's not working well enough for that right now...

Thanks Karen! I'm going to read Wilde in Love that both you and Kat read :)

message 514: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments No worries, Karen. Here ya go. My shelves also look really similar to Karen's so I'm sure I can find some of my MnG books on there hehehe

Jane’s Shelf
Fran’s Shelf
MKat’s Shelf
Karen’s Shelf
Yz the Whyz’s Shelf

Yep! I have to say there were a few eye rolls when the romance first began, but once it got underway, i couldn't put it down.

I think I told you in our PtP group that I had to get my niece. Well, my sister made a last minute trip up here to see her. So, my time has been filled with spending time with family these past couple of days, but I HAD TO stay up the other night and finish that book. I didn't go to bed until 5am. It was soooo good.

Thank you for pulling me deeper and deeper into the dark side :o)

Courtney | 2931 comments Totally put that that on my TBR 🤣

Chan | 5093 comments Courtney wrote: "Totally put that that on my TBR 🤣"

LOL I hope you enjoy it. As I said, when the romance began, it was a bit corny, but then the protectiveness...{swoon}!

message 521: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments I'm so glad you liked it, Chan! I'm always a little worried someone reads a book I've recommended to them that I especially loved, that they'll be disappointed.

As far as your foray into the Dark Side goes, you'll get there eventually! I know you said you've added Dark Lover to your TBR (and that's a great series), but if you're interested in something a little lighter and different for your first vampire experience, you might want to look into the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands...the first book is A Quick Bite and it focuses on a vampire who faints at the sight of blood! 😋 The first book is definitely not the best in the series, but it sets up a really interesting world and gets completely away from some of the parts of the vampire theme that might bother people. They even have their own blood banks to get blood and they're not allowed to feed directly from humans. The series isn't among my favorites, but I do enjoy it. The books are mostly light and fun, and might be a good way to dip your toes in...

Karen, that sounds perfect. One of my biggest issues is the goriness of dark novels. So, a vampire who faints at the sight of blood lol sounds right up my alley.

Added to my tbr :o)

MountainKat | 31671 comments You all read so many good books for this task! ❤️

Here is your next task:

45. Read 4 books by one of the 2020 FACs.

I'll be nice and let you know who they are so you don't have to go searching. 😉

January - Tessa Bailey
February - Jeaniene Frost
March - T.J. Klune
April - Julia Quinn
May - Sarina Bowen
June - Nora Roberts

Of course since I got this list from Karen, she could have just as easily gotten it from her. 😊

message 527: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments Well, this is a no-brainer for me since I have 2 Nora Roberts books on my M&G list! I'll be reading Year One. I hesitated a bit on whether or not this was the right time to read this one since the premise is a little too close to real life right now, or what it would be like in a worst-case scenario, but I bit the bullet and added it to my list, so I'm going for it!

message 528: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments I'm going to do Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen

message 529: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm going to get to the 3rd in the Symth-Smith Quartet by Julia Quinn, The Sum of All Kisses

message 530: by [deleted user] (new)

Courtney wrote: "I'm going to do Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen"

Rookie Move was really good. I'm not a fan of hockey (blasphemous for a Canadian to say lol) but I really enjoyed that series!

message 531: by Courtney (last edited Jun 03, 2020 06:59PM) (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments I usually really like Hockey romances for some reason, even though I hate all sports 🤣. Sawyer Bennett's Cold Fury series is one of my favs. Hard to find ones as good as those. I actually read Brooklynaire already because I didn't know it was part of the Brooklyn Bruiser series 🤦‍♀️. I hate reading series out of order, so I've been meaning to go back and start from the beginning.

I agree...it has really flown by! And yet, in so many other ways the last 2 months seem like they've taken forever to pass.

Hey Chan, just to cover all bases, will you please change your qualification to include both Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb? I don't think Kat is being all that picky, especially with such a well-known pseudonym, but since it's not included on the GR book page I'd rather be safe than sorry. So maybe something like "Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb, per book cover". Thanks!! 😀

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments Hey everyone! Here's a change to the last task that Kat announced in the Q&A thread, in case anyone missed it:

‼️ PLEASE TAKE NOTE! ‼️

With the challenge ending on Tuesday, June 9th, there will a minor change to the last task. Beginning on Sunday, June 7th, when teams post their completions and get a new task, they will all get the same task. For this task, instead of just completing it - you will be earning points for every completed book. In the event that two or more teams are tied based on the number of tasks completed, the team with the most points will win The Amazing Race Team Challenge!

This doesn't really affect us since we're firmly in the middle of the pack, but just thought I'd pass it along anyway.

EDIT: I just took a look at Kat's tracking, and as of the last time she updated it we were tied for 9th place with another team, so if the timing works that we can fit in a couple of extra books it might break that tie so it's not totally irrelevant to us, but it's also not at all a big deal.

I think this challenge does more damage to my TBR (in terms of making it larger) than any other, for a couple of reasons, I think. Partially because I have more interest in what the rest of you are reading since we have to collaborate on so many of the tasks, and partially because, since we picked our own teams and I know we have similar tastes, especially if more than one of you like a book I can be pretty sure I will too!

I'm definitely doing The Bachelor Challenge again...already signed up!

You hit the nail on the heat Karen. I noticed I've added more books in this challenge than any other and it's for the reasons you mentioned.

I can't believe the challenge is almost over either, Courtney. The time has flown by. This group has stretched me outside of my reading comfort zone (in good ways) which can only happen with a group you feel comfortable with. I really hope we will do this again soon!

message 545: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments Yes! Honestly, this has been my favorite challenge to date. I think there was definitely more room for giving recommendations in this one since the tasks were more open or team-directed. I really liked that.

No worries, Sarah! Functioning with a headache is next to impossible! And it actually worked out fine, because we wouldn't have wanted a new task yesterday anyway with the way Kat is handling the final task.
