Why it is a slow read

Hi, quite understand that some people think my story is a slow read. I tried to replicate Conan Doyle’s voice. Using an approximation of the grammar and syntax of the time. I never set out to write a crash-bang-wallop adventure. In fact its very gentleness and, in a way Conan Doyle’s doctorish painstaking precision is how I conceived the whole feel and texture of the piece. Sorry if I disappointed anyone’s expectation.
