I really enjoyed my reading experience of this book. I did not enjoy the love triangle through the first half, but I loved the fast paced vampire fun that this novel had to offer. I loved the story being set in the confined space of a ship in the middle of the ocean. 3.5 stars.
Totally agree with the comments so far! I was also not expecting the ending, but I was pleasantly surprised! It would be interesting to see what the author would do with a sequel...Abe's journey might be fun to read. I also agree that the confined space added to the tension! Limiting the setting helped focus more on the characters. I do wish I got a little more detail about the main vampires, but the action made up for that. Quick and fun read!
I wasn't a fan of the first half's love triangle or of the beginning in general, but the second half's vampire action was super fun. It was a quick read, and with an unexpected, but good ending. Not the greatest thing ever written, but one worth a read for the vampire aspect alone. 3/5.
I love that we're all pretty much in agreeance on the love triangle LOL I wasn't a fan of it, either. I don't think it really added to any of the characters to be honest because obviously the biggest threats were surviving the Titanic sinking and then surviving against vampires, so any romance got pushed to the back burner so often, I don't think we needed it.
I think the references to Stoker being familiar with our trios families was a little cheesy, I think just being aware of his work was enough of a nod. I really liked the rest of the vampire story, though. It wasn't as simple as humans vs vampires, there was that inner conflict between Brody and Dushku that I thought added to the story a whole lot.
This reads super fast, even though it took me the whole of the month, I only sat down to read it four times, and each time I blasted through each section. Amy, I totally agree with you that this would be a good read for someone getting into horror lit.
Overall, not my favorite, but it definitely could have been much worse. I'm middle-of-the-road on this one: 2.5/5

I listened to this as an audio book and I think it may have made the experience better as the narrator was so great. I agree that the love triangle was 'meh' and I'm glad it wasn't the main focus of the story. Although I loved Lucy and her feminism views, I wasn't overly fond of Abe, but felt his story arc was fantastic.
I had no clue what this was about going into it, and so I was pleasantly surprised by it. To begin with I thought the vampires were introduced too early, but it meant that there was time the learn the dynamics of the vampires. I really enjoyed that the vampires were not all 'copy and paste' with the same desires.
