Losing my mind - help me find this book please

I am looking for a series of books that I read more years ago then I can remember and I want to read again.

Futuristic earth - humans can log into the "net" with avatars they control. The main is a samurai swordsman/hacker. He lives/works in a storage container.

That's all I can remember.
Please tell me that is enough to twig your minds and save mine.

Sounds exactly like Snow Crash, only that wasn't a series; it was one book.
