I remember reading this book when I was in elementary school, probably around 2005-2010. The book might have been older than that, I really don't remember. The most distinct detail I remember is that there was a main male character who had wings, they may have been green. He really wanted to fly around, but the other characters told him he couldn't because he would get caught. In the end, he held on to a string so that he could fly high up in the air and pretend to be a kite.

Searching online a story with the same elements came up but it's a short story, not a whole book...It's called Uncle Einar and it was written by Ray Bradbury. It is included in these books: From the Dust Returned and R is for Rocket (not sure if it's included anywhere else).
You can read the short story here: https://metallicman.com/laoban4site/u...
Glad you found your short story, Olivia. Which book should we shelve - From the Dust Returned, R is for Rocket or something else by Ray Bradbury?
