May's group read nominations should come from this list of Barry Award winners and runners up:

You have tons of choices here so this should be easy.

message 2: by Gisela (new)

Gisela Hafezparast | 368 comments How about The Chestnut Man. Wanted to read this for quite a while.

message 3: by Aditya (new)

Aditya | 2017 comments My nomination is 1998 best novel runner up Cimarron Rose by James Lee Burke. I am a huge fan of his Robicheaux books, and wanted to try out another one of his series. Plus this also won the Edgar Award in the same category.

I assumed the one listed right below the winner is the runner up as they are not listed alphabetically.

message 5: by Bill (new)

Bill I'll nominate Jade Dragon Mountain by Elsa Hart, a runner up for best first novel in 2016. (if I understood the list correctly)

The runners up can be any of the titles that didn't win. The winner has a red star before the title. Hope this clarifies and sorry if I confused everyone.

Suzy (goodreadscomsuzy_hillard) | 702 comments I nominate Mystic River by Dennis Lehane a book I've wanted to read for a long time!
Interesting to see how the categories for this award have evolved over time.

Thanks for all the nominations; I'm not going to be taking any more.
I will be setting up the poll tomorrow.

Okay, everyone, the poll is now open. Go vote!
You can reach it via the polls link in the top left corner of our group's pages or through this link:

And by the way, thanks for putting up with my sluggishness this last couple of weeks. It has been a perfect storm of severe allergies and a serious sinus infection for me, making me the queen of misery. Much better today.

message 16: by Michaela (new)

Michaela Hugs Nancy, and glad you´re better!

That's awesome. I'm sure you'll provide some great insights.

message 25: by Marty (new)

Marty | 15 comments Ooh, I'll have to start The Chestnut Man. I had just started watching Forbrydelsen/The Killing a week or two ago, and so I recognized the author, Søren Sveistrup. Looking forward to beginning it in a few days.

message 26: by Rob (new)

Rob Twinem (runner56) | 10 comments Just reading the wonderful Knife by Jo Nesbo at the moment and I'm going to join in this group read. Scandi noir is in an altogether different place to English and American crime that does not make it better but it makes it different...and oh so readable :)
