Was read after 2010, and I think it was fairly recently released. I'm pretty sure I originally got it for free from Kobo, but I can't find it in my Kobo library so it's possible it's moved to Kindle, or was part of a free compilation.

The main character slept with a demon, but he took off right afterwards and wound up in prison. The main character didn't know this, so when she went looking for him she thought he'd just been messing around with her and between hating him and wanting to protect her daughter when she discovers she's pregnant, MC goes off the grid so he can't find her when he gets free.

The main character is later tricked into stealing a book (might have been referred to as something more specific, like a grimoire or codex) from said demon so a more powerful witch can cast a protection spell on their hybrid daughter, who is ill because she's a hybrid. It's made obvious to the reader that it won't actually help the child, and the main character is being used by the other witch.

The main character is also friends with a valkyrie, who eventually talks to the demon and explains what happened so they can all make up and be happy.
