#1 – I felt the same way; expected the same thing. I just shrugged and gave up on the romance… for now.

#2 – Yes, seemed like Ben was a nice guy, the more we get to see him though everyone’s eyes.

#3 – I think they are next in the series.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 744 comments Ezi's Response to Lisa Kay’s Discussion Questions for Chapters 1 – 7

1. Ah! Took me awhile, but I’m betting it was Sarah who was flying the helicopter Cooper watched at the beginning. Right? I like lady pilots. Does it bother you that she hasn’t been in the story so far?
Yes, it was Sarah flying. That is pretty cool because it gives her something in common with Coop. They can trade war stories and bond over it

2. BOOK QUOTE: “Like maybe a crime-scene cleanup crew?” LOL! How are you liking Cooper? I don’t know why, but I didn’t see Ben leaving Cooper all his worldly goods.
I am a little baffled because it doesn't seem like Cooper knew Ben THAT well. I would say they had a friendship, but it didn't seem that Coop knew THAT much. Coop didn't know much of anything substantive actually. I finished the book and I don't feel like I knew Ben either

3. I’m liking Mac. Or rather, Deputy Yummy Pants. LOL! BOOK QUOTE: “If anyone stops me or asks questions, you’ll have to act arrested.” I think these two, Cooper and Mac, are going to be friends. What do you think of Mac’s back-story?
Mac is funny as hell. He is a deputy but he had very "blonde" moments. No offense to any blondes on here. Mac just doesn't get it about women so he was amusing to watch as he dealt with Gina

4. Do you think Ben was murdered? Or could it have been an accident? What of Weird Rawley? Do you think he knows more than he’s say? Maybe Rawley witnessed it? Will Cooper continue to look out for Rawley?
Yes, I think Ben was murdered, I didn't know if he had found oil or gold on his land, but he had something of value that someone wanted. for someone who helped people, it was someone of malicious intent and it always has to do with money. so Thats why I ruled out Rawley. Plus, Rawley is a red herring that authors throw out to deflect. It's usually not someone we meet right off the bat.

5. Ben was an “involved ornithologist” and there is a bird preserve on his property. Is that why he wouldn’t sell? Does that have something to do with his death? Or will his old laptop have a clue?
this part I didn't get at the time. I thought, Man, this Ben loves people like Jesus loves people. What a helper of mankind, nature etc. Who'd wanna kill someone like that?

6. What do you think of Landon and his “newcomer” status? Man-oh-man! Moving during your high-school years is rough. I’ll be interested to see how the issue with the bully Jag will be resolved. Now Eve turned Jag down for the dance and is going with Landon. That can’t bode well. Is Cooper handling this well?
New kid syndrome always works better for women. New girls are of interest to boys. Boys don't want anyone threatening their social status, so new cute jocks are NOT welcomed with open arms. Poor Landon

7. BOOK QUOTE: “I wanted to have sex again before I died. With someone I liked.” The criteria of that last sentence is key. LMBO! I’m liking Joe. Do you think Lou has a point? Is ten years too big a gap at that age of your life?
Lou and Joe were facinating to me because of the age and racial issue. I loved the fact that it was his age NOT that Joe was black, was the issue for Lou. Bravo to the author! I loved the things Joe said to Lou through this book. He is a good good man

8. Gina and Mac! What do you think of Mac’s “no experimentation” rule? What of Gina’s ultimatum?
9. From the list of characters, is anyone else is standing out for you?
Combining Questions 8&9: Mac and Gina were my stand out. their later exchanges WERE FUNNY. the internal monologue was killing me. I think the real reason Mac stayed so close to Gina was to "cock block" as we would say. With the deputy always being around most men wouldn't approach Gina. So he could have Gina but not risk anything either. Gina was afraid and kept things status quo.

Gina's ultimatum was fair because he got her hopes up and it was clear that Gina wanted more. So at least she wasn't being a friends with benefit. She was like if you want a piece, you better make sure YOU WANT A PIECE.

Silvia 1. It doesn't bother me because she's been mentioned a lot so we have a lot of background on her to lay a good foundation for what's to come.

2. Cooper seems decent. Doesn't surprise me that Ben left Cooper his 'estate' since they served in the Army together. They weren't close but Ben was probably closer to Cooper than anyone else.

3. I love Mac. For having children at such a young age and then his wife leaving him when the youngest child was only 9 months old, wow is all I can think of. That's a very attractive trait in someone. It's no wonder he doesn't want to give his heart away to anyone.

4. I think Ben was murdered, quite possibly for his property, maybe some shady builder wants to put a resort on it. Not sure about Rawley, I think he was too loyal to Ben to keep something covered up although Rawley might suspect someone because he made sure Cooper got Bens will right away.

5. I think the laptop may hold the clue!

6. Cooper's handling this very well. Looking after Landon without involving anyone else...yet!

7. No, age doesn't matter for them. Now if she was 25 and he was 15, that would be a problem! LOL!

8. I just think for Mac his first responsibility is to his children and second to his job, even though he wants to take things further with Gina there's still the emotional part of giving a part of you to someone and if it doesn't work out the consequences of them living in a small town would be devastating to Mac. Gina just has to be patient, her time will come!

9. Can't think of anyone.

I haven't finished it, in fact I just started it this morning, but to me, it has a Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove (at least as seen in the television show on Hallmark channel, I haven't read those books either!) feel to it. I expect to see the romances that start in this and subsequent books to be developed more through being secondary characters in books further down the line in the series. As such, I'm not anticipating much romance to be seen in this book.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Lisa Kay’s Discussion Questions for Chapters 8 – 14

10. I’m so glad Landon told Eve about Jag Morrison; that was the right thing to do. Logical, too, for her safety. I hate it when books are not logical. Comments.

11. Oh man-oh-man! I was so worried for Landon! Glad he finally spoke up, even if it was from a stretcher. What did you think of Coach Rayburough’s response to the attack?

12. BOOK QUOTE:
“I want my mother!” What did you think of Jag Morrison’s arrest? Do they have enough to charge him and make it stick?

13. BOOK QUOTE:
“Although I’d feel cheap and dirty the whole time, I can live with that.” So, Sarah firmly enters the storyline and we get a little more background info. (Aunt Frances gave me chills.) And she’s so pissed at Cooper! Personally, I think she’s projecting. But, he’s handling it well. Love his honesty with her, too. And his subtle sense of humor works for me. Thoughts?

14. Eeep! What did you think of that scene at Cliffhanger’s with the Morrisons? Ick. Jag is such a creepy sleaze ball. I mean, I knew he was a sleaze ball, but I didn’t know he was a pervert, too. Loved that Cooper held Sarah back. LOL! Comments.

15. Whoa. What did you think of the kissing? And I’m glad Cooper wouldn’t let Sarah get away with just calling it a kiss.

16. Is Mac’s celibacy believable, with all he has on his plate? (AKA: Going on in his life.) Could there be some “little chickie” off somewhere else? What do you think of Gina’s internal dialogue for this section?

17. Will Doctor Scott Grant be the catalyst to get Mac to make a move? (I’m sure he could over hear that diner conversation between Sarah and Gina and knows Gina’s available.) Or is he really interested in Gabriella, his 19-year-old au pair?

18. I’m glad Sarah and Gina talked and seemed to be making friends. Sarah isn’t just skittish of men, after what her friend did, it is women, too. I can’t blame her, can you?

19. Ray Anne! I love that Cooper doesn’t want to be “cornered” by her. LOL!

20. Oh! Oh! Oh! Sarah got Cooper’s number from Landon’s phone. I don’t think I’ve ever been so tickled for a fictitious hero before. LOL! And then… the “up-against-the-trailer-wall-sex!” Comments.

10. I’m so glad Landon told Eve about Jag Morrison; that was the right thing to do. Logical, too, for her safety. I hate it when books are not logical. Comments.
I think once Cooper got him to talk about it, it was like a dam that burst. Plus, once Eve revealed her disdain for jackass, I mean Jag, it made it easy to talk about this douchbag behavior.
Landon and Eve seemed to have an comfort level that made it easy to tell a girl that your are being bothered by the Town Bully. I think it was definitely logical, realistic and believeable

11. Oh man-oh-man! I was so worried for Landon! Glad he finally spoke up, even if it was from a stretcher. What did you think of Coach Rayburough’s response to the attack?
Again, Coop telling him that it will only get worse if Landon continued to maintain silence I think drove that action. Plus, I suspect Landon had had enough at this point.

If I can be honest. I feel like Coach believed Landon because a prior Star player corroborated the story AND Landon was a better quarterback than Jackass Jag "JJ". If JJ was like next Tom Brady/Peyton Manning, I feel like the Coach would have taken a different approach in resolving the situation. Sorry I am a cynic when it comes to athletics. My brothers played and some shady stuff go down if you are the "star" being accused of things that can keep you off the field

12. BOOK QUOTE: “I want my mother!” What did you think of Jag Morrison’s arrest? Do they have enough to charge him and make it stick?
Don't all rich kids in trouble ask for mommy and daddy? Actually, all minors should have a guardian present before questioning. they are MINORS after all.

In real life, they have probably cause, but he would have gotten out on his own recognizance as he is star athlete and son of Mr. Moneybags.
Any attorney worth his salt will claim the head issues are messing with Landon's memory thus creating reasonable doubt as to the veracity of Landon's claims.
I would in addition assert that Landon is the new kid, having trouble fitting in, jealous of the home town hero and is trying to cause trouble and take JJ's spot on the team .

when all else fails, I'd claim Affluenza. It worked in Texas :(

13. BOOK QUOTE: “Although I’d feel cheap and dirty the whole time, I can live with that.” So, Sarah firmly enters the storyline and we get a little more background info. (Aunt Frances gave me chills.) And she’s so pissed at Cooper! Personally, I think she’s projecting. But, he’s handling it well. Love his honesty with her, too. And his subtle sense of humor works for me. Thoughts?
Cooper was so funny. I love how he was like "you can take the check. He was going to get that date if it was the last thing he ever did. I like his sense of humor and it seems like Sarah did too.

the story never really told us why Aunt Frances was an abusive monster. I never understood her beef.

i am not sure if I feel that Sarah was projecting. I am a mother and would have issues with some drifter that i don't know befriending my son. I used to watch "To Catch a Predator" on NBC, and I can definitely think Sarah has a right to be extra suspicious. Not really projecting but being a mother hen. Her ward/brother has been heartbroken twice--Aunt Cruella di Frances and her ex-husband Hugh Hefner. She just lacks trust in human kind right now.

14. Eeep! What did you think of that scene at Cliffhanger’s with the Morrisons? Ick. Jag is such a creepy sleaze ball. I mean, I knew he was a sleaze ball, but I didn’t know he was a pervert, too. Loved that Cooper held Sarah back. LOL! Comments.
I think Sarah was a bit silly to let a little kid goad her. I don't know. in real life, she has given JJ's family ammunition to assert in court that Sarah tried to "attack" him. I would say "your honor, Landon and his sister are the violent ones, not my client."
JJ's mother is a stupid cow. Listen, I feel like I know my kid enough to discern false accusations from behaviours that could be truthful.

When I got a call that my 5-year old punched someone, I kind of knew it could be a possibility because he is going through a Ninja Turtle phase and has been punching and kicking. I had to discipline him when got home and say no more Power Rangers and Ninja Turtle Tv shows (because they aren't really age appropriate anyway) but I made him take responsibility and I also took responsibility.
also, I asked him if he did that, and he told me the truth. JJ's mom doesn't seem like she is concerned with anything other than outward appearance anyway so based on Mrs Morrison's own actions, she wouldn't care what her son did to maintain his position at the top of the football food chain

15. Whoa. What did you think of the kissing? And I’m glad Cooper wouldn’t let Sarah get away with just calling it a kiss.
I smiled at this point in the audiobook. And then I thought, it was about damn time. It was like 2/3rds of the book before some real action here! how long was the author gonna make us wait? I like how Sarah was like "oh good! i thought I jumped you!" LOL at Sarah and Coop.

16. Is Mac’s celibacy believable, with all he has on his plate? (AKA: Going on in his life.) Could there be some “little chickie” off somewhere else? What do you think of Gina’s internal dialogue for this section?
HELL NO. I was convinced Mac was going to neighboring towns to get laid. That was BS. that was NOT realistic.

17. Will Doctor Scott Grant be the catalyst to get Mac to make a move?
Of course. I mean seriously, who the hell is Dr Grant anyway? He ain't part of this group.

18. I’m glad Sarah and Gina talked and seemed to be making friends. Sarah isn’t just skittish of men, after what her friend did, it is women, too. I can’t blame her, can you?
*sighing* I am not saying that Sarah doesn't have a right to be skittish. but Sarah should own that she made bad decisions regarding her ex. She saw very clear signs that she chose to ignore because she wanted another person who cared about Landon AND she was lonely and wanted to be held.

Sarah is a smart lady. She worked with men when she flies. Surely she knows that there are decent men and women around.

19. Ray Anne! I love that Cooper doesn’t want to be “cornered” by her. LOL!
What a barracuda!

20. Oh! Oh! Oh! Sarah got Cooper’s number from Landon’s phone. I don’t think I’ve ever been so tickled for a fictitious hero before. LOL! And then… the “up-against-the-trailer-wall-sex!”
I laughed as Coop was like, can we do it regular last time? He would have to work out for this kind of acrobatics. How nice to laugh and joke after all that. It was nice. It would have been hot if it were 5 chapters earlier. I feel like I waited so long for that, so when it finally happened it wasn't as climatic for me as it was cute, sweet, funny etc.

1. Ah! Took me awhile, but I’m betting it was Sarah who was flying the helicopter Cooper watched at the beginning. Right? I like lady pilots. Does it bother you that she hasn’t been in the story so far?
At first I thought it was her but then Cooper saw her on the beach when he got to the town . I don't think it can be her and she said that she has the Friday (that day) off because of the football game . Now I'm thinking it was her ex that Cooper saw . They still work together so it could have been him.
It bothers me just a bit not much.

2. BOOK QUOTE: “Like maybe a crime-scene cleanup crew?” LOL! How are you liking Cooper? I don’t know why, but I didn’t see Ben leaving Cooper all his worldly goods.

4. Do you think Ben was murdered? Or could it have been an accident? What of Weird Rawley? Do you think he knows more than he’s say? Maybe Rawley witnessed it? Will Cooper continue to look out for Rawley?
Yes . I'm thinking the killer hadn't planned to kill him . I'm thinking the reason has something to do with the land .
I think he will look after Rawley

5. Ben was an “involved ornithologist” and there is a bird preserve on his property. Is that why he wouldn’t sell? Does that have something to do with his death? Or will his old laptop have a clue?
His death has something to do with land ,there might be a clue in the laptop

I think Gina was right . He either has to go for it or just stop

1. Ah! Took me awhile, but I’m betting it was Sarah who was flying the helicopter Cooper watched at the beginning. Right? I like lady pilots. Does it bother you that she hasn’t been in the story so far?
A little bit, because I keep thinking of this as a romance. I believe that she’s the one walking the dog, and that Cooper is beginning to fall for her through that means, but I don’t like that we don’t “know” much of her as yet.

2. BOOK QUOTE: “Like maybe a crime-scene cleanup crew?” LOL! How are you liking Cooper? I don’t know why, but I didn’t see Ben leaving Cooper all his worldly goods. I could see it a bit, simply because of the friendship they shared and Ben having no heirs. Cooper is odd to me, so reserved and almost stingy with his friendships…but not in a shy way.

It is definitely interesting! I’m wondering why he didn’t see that Cee Jay was that much of a self-absorbed b*tch though.

4. Do you think Ben was murdered? Or could it have been an accident? What of Weird Rawley? Do you think he knows more than he’s say? Maybe Rawley witnessed it? Will Cooper continue to look out for Rawley? I’m thinking he was murdered. Rawley definitely knows more than he is letting on, perhaps to take Cooper’s measure first? I think Cooper’s on the fence about keeping Rawley around right now, but if Rawley comes through somehow? Maybe Cooper will keep him around.

5. Ben was an “involved ornithologist” and there is a bird preserve on his property. Is that why he wouldn’t sell? Does that have something to do with his death? Or will his old laptop have a clue?
I believe the preserve is why he wouldn’t sell, plus he could have loved the view! I think that his not selling would have had something to do with his death, but I’m 50/50 on if the laptop will have a clue on it or not.

I think he’s handling it as best as he can, really. He’s not even involved with Sarah, and yet he’s playing mentor to her brother. I’m already worried for Landon! It’s the same worries I had for my own son that lead me to pull him out of traditional schools and homeschool.

7. BOOK QUOTE: “I wanted to have sex again before I died. With someone I liked.” The criteria of that last sentence is key. LMBO! I’m liking Joe. Do you think Lou has a point? Is ten years too big a gap at that age of your life? I’m torn on this one. My main thought on it is that one of them will definitely pass on before the other, leaving them alone once again, but yet at the same time I think that they should be happy while they can.

8. Gina and Mac! What do you think of Mac’s “no experimentation” rule? What of Gina’s ultimatum? I’m not that impressed with them right now...They both seem to have their heads in places that they shouldn’t be. They are practically perfect for each other in a Brady Bunch kinda way!

9. From the list of characters, is anyone else is standing out for you? Not yet, I’m still getting a feel for everything.

Silvia 10. I'm glad Landon told Eve, it show his maturity which is a good foundation for any kind of relationship.

11. I'm glad coach believed Landon but just wondering how the coach would have reacted if Dowey hadn't spoken up about Jag's history.

12. Jag's just a bad, evil person. When he said "I want my mother" he made it clear he's used to getting what he wants from his "mommy".

13. I think I may have reacted the same way Sarah did, after all, Landon is her only family. Of course, Cooper is as cool as a cucumber! Love that about him!

14. Jag is just an evil brat! Ewwww, so disgusting! Good thing Cooper held Sarah back. Don't want to give the Morrisons any ammo they can use in court!

15. Yes, loved that Sarah was the one that was into the kiss! Go girl!

16. I don't think Mac has anyone on the side. I just think he thinks he's doing the right thing. He's kind of blinded to this whole duty to family and work ideal. Gina should flirt with the new doctor in town! That might pour some cold water on Mac, wake up son! Yeah, Gina's been crushing on Mac for a long time.

17. Yes, see above! I'm wondering about that nanny! Why would the doctor bring up to Gina about how it looks to the town about the nanny watching his children, red flag alert!

18. I don't blame Sarah at all because her husband had an affair with her best friend!. Good thing they were only married a year! I'm happy Sarah has someone she can confide in, Gina should confide in Sarah, maybe get Cooper to poke Mac in the ribs and tell him to wake up before he loses what's right in front of him!

19. Ray Anne is another Ewww! Not in an evil way like Jag but scuzzy! I'm wondering if she knows something about Ben's death.

20. Glad Sarah was the one to call Cooper! Against the wall, oh yeah!!

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments Lisa Kay’s Discussion Questions for Chapters 8 – 14

10. I’m so glad Landon told Eve about Jag Morrison; that was the right thing to do. Logical, too, for her safety. I hate it when books are not logical. Comments.
I liked that too.

11. Oh man-oh-man! I was so worried for Landon! Glad he finally spoke up, even if it was from a stretcher. What did you think of Coach Rayburough’s response to the attack?
I'm going to say his response was logical , Jag is his friend's son but then he heard it from Downy and he believed it

12. BOOK QUOTE: “I want my mother!” What did you think of Jag Morrison’s arrest? Do they have enough to charge him and make it stick?
No they enough unless some other witnesses come forward. I'm sure he'll do something bad to make it stick before the end of the book

Thoughts?
Ughh Aunt Frances ! How can she live with herself?! I loved that he was calm . I really like his character .

14. Eeep! What did you think of that scene at Cliffhanger’s with the Morrisons? Ick. Jag is such a creepy sleaze ball. I mean, I knew he was a sleaze ball, but I didn’t know he was a pervert, too. Loved that Cooper held Sarah back. LOL! Comments.
Creepy , he'll do something bad soon .

15. Whoa. What did you think of the kissing? And I’m glad Cooper wouldn’t let Sarah get away with just calling it a kiss.
I wasn't expecting them to start kissing so soon but I think it went well with their characters and the story . I liked it

16. Is Mac’s celibacy believable, with all he has on his plate? (AKA: Going on in his life.) Could there be some “little chickie” off somewhere else? What do you think of Gina’s internal dialogue for this section?
It is believable. He's a busy guy and he's cautious. I don't think there is anyone at the moment . And he's clueless about Gina's feelings .

17. Will Doctor Scott Grant be the catalyst to get Mac to make a move? (I’m sure he could over hear that diner conversation between Sarah and Gina and knows Gina’s available.) Or is he really interested in Gabriella, his 19-year-old au pair?
That's exactly what I thought . Hmmm I'm not sure about his interest , I have to check out his book characters !

18. I’m glad Sarah and Gina talked and seemed to be making friends. Sarah isn’t just skittish of men, after what her friend did, it is women, too. I can’t blame her, can you?
No it is hard for to trust after what she went through

19. Ray Anne! I love that Cooper doesn’t want to be “cornered” by her. LOL!
She is too much ! I've never anyone like that in real life

20. Oh! Oh! Oh! Sarah got Cooper’s number from Landon’s phone. I don’t think I’ve ever been so tickled for a fictitious hero before. LOL! And then… the “up-against-the-trailer-wall-sex!” Comments.

Loved how it all went :D

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments ShoSho's Question for Chapters 15-20

21. Mac was really clueless ,good thing Dr.Grant came along and stirred things up! What did you think of his plan of waiting until their girls go to college ? Would that have worked even if he had told Gina about it ?

22.Mac had known all along about Joe and Lou relationship . She should have known he would ! Right? I loved that scene where Lou told Joe her reasons for hiding their relationship and Joe's response . Did you ?

23.We got a glimpse of the ex . What a D*ck ! Not a question I just wanted to say that!

24.Mac was late but when he decided to do it ,he did it like a boss! Did you like their romantic outing on the beach ?

25.Jag killed Ben !!! Did you see that coming ? I knew Jag was going to beat or at least try to beat someone ,but his father ? Is it the end for Jag or are we going to see more of him ?

26.Hamlet in helmet lol now that's something worth imagining

27. How do you feel about the relationships between adults and the teenagers and the talks they had in this book ? Mac and Eve , Landon and Cooper , Landon and Sarah , Eve and Lou ?

28.Sarah loves Cooper but she didn't commit, it was a sort of HFN . Was it something you expected ? Were you happy with the ending?

29. How did you rate it? Will you read the next one? Did you like the humor? Characters? Overall?

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Second round of questions...

11. Oh man-oh-man! I was so worried for Landon! Glad he finally spoke up, even if it was from a stretcher. What did you think of Coach Rayburough’s response to the attack? My reaction was, “Why didn’t you notice or do anything about it before, you jerk?! Too worried about Mommy and Daddy’s money were you?” The coach is just too involved with image to notice anything bad happening to the rest of the team because of this punk!

12. BOOK QUOTE: “I want my mother!” What did you think of Jag Morrison’s arrest? Do they have enough to charge him and make it stick? I’m not sure they have enough to make it stick, but there is enough eyewitnesses to other attacks that harassment charges are not out of the question. I also thought that Jag was a bit of a crybaby for wanting his mother when he was arrested, though later scenes made me understand why he wanted her.

Thoughts? His humor is unique, and it made me chuckle a bit. Sarah wants to hold on to Landon too tightly, partially because of the abuse he suffered, but I think it may wind up backfiring on her, because he needs to have some independence away from her.

14. Eeep! What did you think of that scene at Cliffhanger’s with the Morrisons? Ick. Jag is such a creepy sleaze ball. I mean, I knew he was a sleaze ball, but I didn’t know he was a pervert, too. Loved that Cooper held Sarah back. LOL! Comments. I found it funny that Cooper had to, but at the same time Sarah should have known that Jag was trying to provoke her and called it to the attention of the other patrons/his parents. It was borderline sexual harassment in my eyes and it would have been a good start to a case against Jag, but because of her actions, the first offense may be thrown out due to her attempted attack. Plus, I found it interesting that Mommy and Daddy are making excuses for Jag’s poor playing on the field.

15. Whoa. What did you think of the kissing? And I’m glad Cooper wouldn’t let Sarah get away with just calling it a kiss. It was a good first volley in their skirmish of wills, but that’s about all. I was a bit “meh” about the set up of it.

16. Is Mac’s celibacy believable, with all he has on his plate? (AKA: Going on in his life.) Could there be some “little chickie” off somewhere else? What do you think of Gina’s internal dialogue for this section? I don’t think Mac has time to have a side piece stashed somewhere, I just think he’s clueless about how Gina really feels towards him. I think Gina is being too cautious again. There is no love without risk, and she wants Mac to be a sure thing before she makes a move. It will paralyze her into inaction regarding him.

17. Will Doctor Scott Grant be the catalyst to get Mac to make a move? (I’m sure he could over hear that diner conversation between Sarah and Gina and knows Gina’s available.) Or is he really interested in Gabriella, his 19-year-old au pair? I can’t really comment on this, I don’t know enough about the Doctor’s situation to make a judgement.

18. I’m glad Sarah and Gina talked and seemed to be making friends. Sarah isn’t just skittish of men, after what her friend did, it is women, too. I can’t blame her, can you? Nope, I’d be just as apprehensive as she is!

19. Ray Anne! I love that Cooper doesn’t want to be “cornered” by her. LOL! *snort* He should just stand up to her and tell her that he’s not interested in anything she’s peddling!

20. Oh! Oh! Oh! Sarah got Cooper’s number from Landon’s phone. I don’t think I’ve ever been so tickled for a fictitious hero before. LOL! And then… the “up-against-the-trailer-wall-sex!” Comments. I liked their enthusiasm, but at the same time it didn’t feel that believable to me, perhaps even a little slutty. It came across like they were just using each other for mutual gratification. Although, I did like that it was a catalyst for Cooper figuring out that his feelings for Sarah ran deep.

message 140: by Silvia (last edited Jan 16, 2015 06:52PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Silvia 21. I didn't like Mac's plan, and I don't think Gina would have gone for it either. Why put off the inevitable? It's not like they were jumping into a rebound relationship. They had known each other a long time and had similar interests.

22. Yes loved the response! Joe's a very nice man.

23. Yes, what a d!ck is right. He had his chance! And to make that remark to Sarah, GRRRRRR!

24. I loved their outing! Very romantic, Mac had a fire going but no action under the blanket! LOL!

25. I did not see Jag hitting his father or killing Ben coming at all! As I mentioned on a previous question I thought Ray Anne might have known something about Ben's murder or a developer might have been in on it! Jag's a real low life!

26. Love hamlet and his helmet! LOL!

27. I like the way the adults opened the way for dialog with the teens! They were firm but not over bearing!

28. I was very happy with ending! Means there will be more to read about Cooper & Sarah in the next book!

29. I gave it 4 stars. It was not too deep but it was satisfying! The main characters were likable. I'd read the next book.

Thanks for choosing this book! ; )

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) ShoSho's Questions...

21. Mac was really clueless, good thing Dr. Grant came along and stirred things up! What did you think of his plan of waiting until their girls go to college? Would that have worked, even if he had told Gina about it? Heck, no! Gina would have given up on him and found someone else, like any self-respecting woman would! That was a pretty stupid plan of Mac’s…but boy, oh, boy, did Gina nail his butt to the wall good for it! Love that she finally got a backbone and told Mac that he was too late!

22. Mac had known all along about Joe and Lou relationship. She should have known he would! Right? I loved that scene where Lou told Joe her reasons for hiding their relationship and Joe's response. Did you? Yeah, it was pretty touching! With how protective Mac is with Eve, it was a given that Mac would follow Lou and make sure she was safe.

23. We got a glimpse of the ex. What a D*ck! Not a question I just wanted to say that! Totally agree with you right there! Love how he wants Sarah to pull strings to get him out of Alaska, because of their history…NOT! Let him rot up there, honey!

24. Mac was late but when he decided to do it, he did it like a boss! Did you like their romantic outing on the beach? It was all right, but not all that romantic to me. It smacked a little of desperation to me really, and that might have killed the inherent romance aspect of it.

25. Jag killed Ben!!! Did you see that coming? I knew Jag was going to beat or at least try to beat someone, but his father? Is it the end for Jag or are we going to see more of him? No way! I figured Ben was murdered, but not by a local! I was figuring an out of towner corporate dude! I want it to be the end for Jag, but I think Mommy has money squirrelled away somewhere and will get him off somehow, so we’ll be seeing more of him. He strikes me as a wanting revenge type.

26. Hamlet in helmet, lol, now that's something worth imagining! *snorts* It would be amusing, but how would they handle his ears?

27. How do you feel about the relationships between adults and the teenagers and the talks they had in this book? Mac and Eve, Landon and Cooper, Landon and Sarah, Eve and Lou? It came across like the teenagers were more mature than they might normally have been. Where there could have been a lot more drama and angst between Mac and Eve, it was a momentary angsty moment, then everything was all right again. It was too pat for my tastes.

28. Sarah loves Cooper but she didn't commit, it was a sort of HFN. Was it something you expected? Were you happy with the ending? I really hated the ending. Granted, I expected Sarah to not commit to the relationship, but at the same time I was really hoping she’d prove me wrong. I also hated the lack of closure about what was going on with Jag, and the relationships in general.

29. How did you rate it? Will you read the next one? Did you like the humor? Characters? Overall? I’m rating this one three stars. It dragged quite a bit for me, even with starting it on the 14th! I also didn’t find much humor in the book, though the characters were richly developed. I won’t be purchasing the next one, that’s for sure! I will probably read the next one before deciding to continue with the series or not.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments ShoSho’s Questions and Lisa Kay’s Answers for Chapters 15-20

21. Mac was really clueless, good thing Dr. Grant came along and stirred things up! What did you think of his plan of waiting until their girls go to college? Would that have worked even if he had told Gina about it?
Never would have worked.

22. Mac had known all along about Joe and Lou relationship. She should have known he would! Right? I loved that scene where Lou told Joe her reasons for hiding their relationship and Joe's response. Did you?
Well, she knows how he checks up on the kids, so it makes total sense he would check up on her. Yes, great scene. Who doesn’t love a good cook, too?

23. We got a glimpse of the ex. What a D*ck! Not a question I just wanted to say that!
Man-oh-man! I was trying to figure out if he was having regrets, due to the time of the year, or if he was thinking that she could get him out of his assignment. But, really, it didn’t matter. His “teasing” her was a really immature response.

24. Mac was late but when he decided to do it, he did it like a boss! Did you like their romantic outing on the beach?
Yup!

25. Jag killed Ben!!! Did you see that coming? I knew Jag was going to beat or at least try to beat someone, but his father? Is it the end for Jag or are we going to see more of him?
Nope. Didn’t see this one coming. Good Gravy Beans! I hope we don’t see more of him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we did in a future book.

26. .Hamlet in helmet lol now that's something worth imagining
I’m going to have to find a pic. LMBO!

27. How do you feel about the relationships between adults and the teenagers and the talks they had in this book? Mac and Eve, Landon and Cooper, Landon and Sarah, Eve and Lou?
I liked the dialogue in the books. I felt the multigenerational talks were realistic.

28. Sarah loves Cooper but she didn't commit, it was a sort of HFN. Was it something you expected? Were you happy with the ending?
Nope, Sarah didn’t. But, their story does continue in Book #2. I – surprisingly – was fine with it. But that is due to the fact that I made up my mind early on that this wasn’t a true Contemporary Romance… but more of a “small town saga” type deal.

29. How did you rate it? Will you read the next one? Did you like the humor? Characters? Overall?
I gave it four stars. I’ll definitely read the next one; in fact, I’ve been resisting doing so. Loved the humor – but that is mostly due to Cooper’s. His dialogue tickled my funny bone. Yes, enjoyed the characters.

21. Mac was really clueless ,good thing Dr.Grant came along and stirred things up! What did you think of his plan of waiting until their girls go to college ? Would that have worked even if he had told Gina about it?
Even if that was Mac's plan, he should have mentioned discussed or let Gina know he had interest. She had no clue. Mac is such a man!

22.Mac had known all along about Joe and Lou relationship . She should have known he would! Right? I loved that scene where Lou told Joe her reasons for hiding their relationship and Joe's response . Did you ?
Of course Mac knew, he is a deputy. He's only clueless about his own situation. Joe is such a good and patient and loving guy. I loved his calm responses.

23.We got a glimpse of the ex . What a D*ck ! Not a question I just wanted to say that!
I agree with Coop. Sarah chose that douche because some part of her knew he wasn't a keeper. It was self fulfilling. He never cared about her.

24.Mac was late but when he decided to do it ,he did it like a boss! Did you like their romantic outing on the beach ?
I am looking forward to seeing this journey from Mac's perspective. I'd loved to see his head!

25.Jag killed Ben !!! Did you see that coming ? I knew Jag was going to beat or at least try to beat someone ,but his father ? Is it the end for Jag or are we going to see more of him ?
Yes once the mother said the dad didn't do what needed to be done, I knew Jag did it. I'd like to see more of him in jail!

26.Hamlet in helmet lol now that's something worth imagining

27. How do you feel about the relationships between adults and the teenagers and the talks they had in this book ? Mac and Eve , Landon and Cooper , Landon and Sarah , Eve and Lou ?
the relationships were all interwoven and worked. It is a small town after all.

28.Sarah loves Cooper but she didn't commit, it was a sort of HFN . Was it something you expected ? Were you happy with the ending?
Sarah has love PTSD, Coop will wear her down once he continues to prove he is staying for real.

29. How did you rate it? Will you read the next one? Did you like the humor? Characters? Overall?
It's a 3.5, and I rounded up to 4 since goodreads doesn't give us 1/2stars. I hate that Goodreads doesn't
