Faith Jones (havingfaith) | 26 comments An open call for 'Writers in Lockdown'.

I'm putting together a book of short stories, for which the common factor is that all the authors in many locations across the world have to write their piece during the period when they were stuck at home during the coronavirus outbreak. These stories are not about the virus itself but an historical snapshot of creative minds across the spectrum still ticking over during the days of the virus.

Details: Multiple subjects, any fiction genre except fan-fiction (copyright infringement problems). Word count 2,000 to 5,000. Publication on KDP paperback and ebook. Absolute deadline 20th June. No previously published stories please, or text not written between 23 March and 20 June 2020 incl. This is non-profit publication (sale price to cover KDP production costs and cover art) and authors keep the copyright to their own stories.

If you want to submit a short story for this publication and add another writing credit to your name, pm me or email faith@workmail.com soon so you're visible. Please tell any other writers you know on social media as we have about 20 places and something like 14 have expressed an interest at the time of posting.

Faith Jones (havingfaith) | 26 comments 16 writers have expressed an interest, so there's a minimum of 4 places left in this short story collection.

Hi Catalina. It is a not for profit publication, to be priced at the lowest figure to cover the KDP print on demand production costs and some of the cover artist's bill (I'll pay this up front). The decision was mostly because print on demand books don't hit the big time and then dividing profits between 20 authors (less international transfer and currency exchange fees) would be peanuts. On the positive side, all authors retain the rights to their own work (so can publish elsewhere) and it will be another publication credit to your name. If the book really does unexpectedly make a handful of coins, I will make sure this goes to a suitable charity.

Faith Jones (havingfaith) | 26 comments Ruth wrote: "Yes, interested. What topics, length, other details, etc.?"

Hi Ruth.

Details: Any subject or fiction genre is acceptable except fan-fiction please (copyright infringement problems) and please write about something other than the virus, so we have enough variety. The word count should be around 2,000 to 5,000. Publication will be on KDP paperback and ebook. The absolute deadline is 20th June as I'd like to have it in press soon after that. No previously published stories please, or text not written between 23 March and 20 June 2020 incl.

Faith Jones (havingfaith) | 26 comments After five weeks, seven stories are ready. I think I need at least ten to make a volume.

Kinchit Bihani | 6 comments "No one knows when this will end, who will die and who will survive, who will sink and who will fly, who will laugh and who will cry. Numbers are growing every day, leaving the Earth and touching the sky."

In Covid time. A short book that will give you peace and hope. A book that will touch your soul. A book for a better world.

Mark Harbinger (markharbinger) | 9 comments Hi Faith,

This sounds great. I'm probably too late. I do have a short piece...

But I also have other questions: What is the non-profit? What is the name of the anthology? What does the cover look like? Etc.

Best,
_Mark

Hi Mark. 'Writers in Lockdown'. If you can contact me by email, I'll send details. The piece should be around 2,000 to 5,000 words and written during the days of lockdown - not about the virus itself.

Faith Jones (havingfaith) | 26 comments Thanks everyone for taking part. The anthology has now been published: Writers in Lockdown by Faith Jones
