SOLVED. First person fiction about a man who often flies on business trips but hates business trips [s]

The main character is always expressing how he has streamlined everything he does to be more efficient (I don’t remember any specific examples but along the lines of how to perfectly pack for his business trips, how to make his bed for efficient washing and changing of sheets, how to prepare morning coffee and breakfast, etc.)

His relationship falls apart and his live-in partner moves out. He gradually descends into a lifestyle that is more and more “efficient” though it becomes more of an obsession with the efficient way of doing everything. It doesn’t express it outright in the book but I suspect the main character has obsessive compulsive disorder. I recall he seemed to be depressed.
I read this book about 10 years ago though I don’t believe it was fresh off the shelves at that time.
