Try to find a book that I read. while back, it was a freebie but there was a series, the man would shift to a black skin or I think black leathery skin and I think has sharp teeth, when they have sex while shifted they will impregnate, I remember there is more books and thought they were shadow somethings, sorry this is very vague but its killing me not to remember, if you think of anything great
