A childrens book about two weird siblings. They have an odd pet anf their parents are away. The book was released pre 2000 and is somewhat gothic/fantasy. I remember that the graphic on the cover showed the siblings in striped clothing. I THINK one of the siblings was called "Gretchin" or "Gretta". They set up a road-side stall to sell things. This book has been on my mind for years and i CANNOT remember it for the life of me.

Hi! I think this might by the Edgar and Ellen series by Charles Ogden, they have striped pj's, live without parents but with a silent and creepy caretaker and live to prank the town, one of which being a pet stall whose pets (stolen from their neighbours) have been made-up into 'fantasy creatures'. The 'pet' they have is described as a mop of hair with one yellow eyeball. Hope this helps!
