Kylah is a very caring, compassionate girl who will want to help someone if they are in trouble or in pain. She's optimistic most of the time, and always tries to lift others' spirits, or make bad situations seem good, or at least bearable. She has some courage, and will go back for others if needed. |History| Kylah grew up in a city in North America with her parents and two older brothers. They lived a priveleged life; all three children were allowed what they wanted, but only Kylah's brother Trent took advantage of that. Kylah never liked to spend too much money, and she believed that you didn't need a lot of things to live properly. She only had what she needed, with the exception of a few other things. Her family lived in a fairly large house, although it wasn't a mansion. Kylah kept a piano in the lounge, and often played it when she was alone. She hated for others to hear her.
Her parents were part of a large jeweller company which brought in big money for the family. Kylah's older brother Blake became an apprentice in the company, while Trent preferred to sing and play his guitar at bars and taverns. Both he and Kylah were quite musical. Kylah, on the other hand, hated playing in front of others. She worked a local, antique bookshop where she often got discounts for many books.
Kylah's family was rather lucky. Not one member of the family had a disease or broke something serious. Of course, the children had had broken arms in the past and obviously colds and flu's, but nothing serious. However, it was one day when Kylah got a call at school. It was Blake, who was coming to pick her up and take her to the hospital. Trent had just been diagnosed with brain cancer. Kylah had just turned twelve. Trent sadly passed away in an operation, and the family was heartbroken. It was the first real lost they had experienced.
When the world ended, Kylah was in her bedroom working on an assignment-or rather, a few assignments. She descended down the stairs to the first floor of the house to grab a glass of water and something to eat, when the channel on the tv suddenly switched to breaking news. Kylah's mother was asleep on the couch, face down, and she didn't want to wake her. The reporter on the channel explained how hundreds of people had been found dead everywhere, except for those aged 10-19. Kylah went to wake up her mother to warn her, but after a few shakes and pleads, she realized her mother was dead. Kylah, unable to believe it, rushed to her brothers' room. She had last seen them playing with Legos, but now she found their bodies limp on the carpet.
Kylah was still twelve then. She also discovered her father had been found dead in his office. That was five years ago. Now, aged sixteen, Kylah has learned to live in her post-apocalyptic world, surviving with whatever she can find. But the images of her dead family members still haunt her today.
