Series may have "stocks" of episodes too :)I don't think severe restrictions would last longer than a couple of months. They are likely to be gradually removed, once they manage to locate those with antibodies and/or achieve a "feeling" of control over the spread...

All over by Easter according to Donald...Several UK Soaps have stopped production and evening schedules are already different from normal. Multiple film launches delayed and of course cinemas and theatres are closed
i don't know about every state but AZ the theaters are closed. Maybe someone will bring back drive ins? i like drive ins. personally I would go to the movies more often if it was a drive in. Aside from food costs being so high at theaters. the a/c is so cold I bring my coat to wear inside.
I saw that a drive-in in New York is drawing crowds. There's not one within driving distance of me - I checked a couple of years ago because I wanted to go. Too bad they're all gone in this time of social distancing. And such a cool experience I wish young people could have (and a great place to make out). Talk about the big screen :-) Oh, well.

Guess I got old - first thing about drive-ins and I thought about the food rather than the make out session. High school we paid by person for the drive in entrance, so hiding people in the trunk and getting 6 in for the price of 2, along with alcohol was the focus. Early 20s, it was more about the making out - saying yes to a movie date took on whole new considerations regarding intentions. Divorced and remarried, during my 2nd marriage, drive-ins were about the make out session again.Locally, they were doing monthly movies in the park during the warms months. Family events, so bring your blanket, food, and good behavior. I suspect they won't be starting those up this month.
I noticed no new episodes this week on the shows I usually watch through Hulu. Saw and article that said GH was shutting down this week. Soap operas generally don't shut down unless things are really bad.
If you're old enough, you'll remember that one negative of going to a drive-in was the speakers you propped in your window. Sometimes you'd have to move several times to find one that had decent sound. We also did the people in the trunk thing :-)
i remember those. As an adult, it switched to the car radios.
The good old days :-) They also had swing sets at the drive-in to occupy the kiddies.
Soap operas can film months in advance...Days of Our Lives is 6 months ahead of its airing, but coincidentally they decided halt production just before this virus broke out because they wanted to decrease that lead time.
That's interesting J.J. I have never looked into it. I did notice on GH for the past 2 weeks, no Friday show and a lot of old stuff inserted on the remembering front.
The two soaps I watch have resorted to showing "classic episodes." No new plot lines for now.

They have been offering up some older episodes. This week they started airing episodes from just prior to the shut down. I wonder if that means they are going to start filming new episodes and using the reruns to bring people current and remind them of the ongoing plot lines.
With movie theaters closed, will that delay the release of the planned blockbusters release dates? We have one national theater chain and one home-owned theater. I expect the latter will go out of business.
How many people will be out of work in Hollywood? Not just actors, but all of those on the production end, from makeup and costume to special effects, to catering companies. It's a big industry that employs a lot of people in both the "TV" and movie industries.
I think we are all aware of and have received lots of suggestions on supporting small businesses with the expectation that many will not survive and those employees will be hard-pressed to pay their living expenses. But, I don't think we give much consideration to the entertainment industry as we think of all those highly paid actors, musicians, and athletes and not all the little people that contribute to those industries.
