Both are good books, though in different ways. :)

E.T. | 549 comments Also, read the Kindle sample of 'The Way things were'. Although, i could understand and liked the Sanskrit part, but didnt like the writing style that much. Waited for your review and have decided to skip. Will go for Rohinton Mistry first.

A quick enjoyable read, with twists and deviations from the original Greek mythology.

44. The Stranger-2/5
The stranger was really strange. Didn't like it much, though could complete it.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
dely, you may like it. It is your type - grim philosophy and reflections on life. :P

Lol, yes! It's in my to-read list since a lot of time.
When I've seen that you were currently reading it my face was this way o.O and I was pretty sure you would leave it midway. I'm glad you managed to finish it!

Enjoyed reading this one
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Recommended to all Stephen King fans, and those who love the supernatural mixed with a little bit of horror

Was too busy to update.
I have read a few since the Green Mile.
The Invention of Wings
The Luminaries
Boy: Tales of Childhood
Little Face
and abandoned Theft of Swords as I was not at all into the book.

Too lazy to add the review links. Perhaps when I get more time, I will edit the post and include those..

55.The Lives of Others The Lives of Others by Neel Mukherjee -4/5
This was a peculiar book. Took me 8 months to plod through the initial 200 pages, and only 3-4 days to finish off the rest. Not because the story was drab, but because somehow I was never in the needful mindset, and was forever being distracted. So I consider it an achievement, especially so, because I loved the book.

Read 2 classics back to back, with a teenyweeny Scifi-ish story in between.
56. The Great Gatsby-2.5/5
according to me, overrated.

57.The Egg-3.5/5

58. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall-3.5/5

Am slightly getting bored of Japanese mysteries. Hence planning to give a hiatus for sometime.
All in all, it was a better than average read.

dely | 5485 comments A few days ago I went to see a movie based on a book I think you may like. The books is Hungry Hearts: The Indigo Child. It has mother/son relationship, an illness (orthorexia) and also a husband that fights between the love for her wife but also for his son he wants to protect. I think it could be classified as thriller.

I somehow missed this comment. Read the blurb. Seems disturbing, though.

67.Wolf Of The Plains-4/5
My first book on Genghis Khan and the Mongols. Thoroughly enjoyed reading about the totally different culture and habitat. Will follow up the series.

68. Mystic River-4/5
Another good psychological thriller. Was quite engrossing.

The movie was a bit disturbing but not while I was watching it. Only later when I was thinking about it; thinking that there are people who have this illness and no one sees it. It's above all dangerous when they oblige their children to behave the same way. It's interesting seen that it deals with a new illness that shouldn't be underrated. And you, as a doctor, should know ALL the illnesses (and you also like thrillers) :P

Sorry folkies, I was bad this year.
Had no energy or inclination to update this thread in the last few months. Am not going to resume this now. But I will be maintaining a reading log for 2016. It would be haphazard and I will be blurting forth whatever I feel at the time, but it would be a fun chore rather than a task.
So auf wiedersehen.
Take care
Merry christmas and Happy New Year.
