No, Ender wasn't payed and the video game battle was toward the end of the book.
What about this one: The Last Starfighter
Lillian, provide a brief description of your book in the subject line, as opposed to something vague like "Help!" or "Can't Remember This Book" and you will be more likely to catch the eye of someone familiar with your book.
I think it might be Playing Tyler by T.L. Costa.
One reviewer on Amazon says, "The story involves Tyler being asked to test out a simulation for a new drone piloting system. Ani is one of the main programmers for it. They end up falling for each other, and then, in the midst of it, they find out that the simulation isn't a simulation, and that the company that is developing the technology is using them to pilot actual war machines."
Lillian, around what year did you read this science fiction book?
