That's amazing... I've been looking for this book for hours, and then run across this group and see that someone else was looking for the EXACT SAME BOOK only a few weeks ago! Thanks to both Drenai and Kris!

The story goes about as this; the main character is a male thief who is the worlds greatest thief, assassin and a decent swordsman. He has gotten this way because in this world people cant learn magic, you are born with one ability or none at all. His ability he was born with was the ability to adjust his weight/density so he can easily climb walls, float or become the weight of a boulder during a fight. Well, a "wizard" as they say in the book sees him use this ability in public and begins hunting him because he discovered a way to steal other people's abilities by trapping their souls. So now he is on the run for his life while protecting a love interest if i remember right because the wizard has much more power then he does. Eventually he outsmarts him in a swamp? If i remember right. The wizard uses ice magics a lot.
I remember the book was quite thick, the cover had quite a bit of purple on it.
I really wish i could remember more of the book but it has been absolutely nagging the crud out of me that i cant remember the title and i lost the book. I just cant find it anywhere. Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!!
