I checked out Sorrows of an American and have started reading it. I was surprised how engrossed I became and polished off 100 pages in one night. I put aside because I had other things going on, but I think I will finish it within a few days. So far I have enjoyed this book - the plot and the characters.
Admittedly, I did not think I would be so into this writer since I was not completely familiar with her name. I usually start reading an author when I have read many reviews- but sometimes it is nice to go with your gut or be surprised.

Same here. I saw the book on a discount table and liked what I read from the jacket. The store owed me a trade credit so i thought I'd take the chance and I'm so glad that I did. I will look for the book you mention too.
