SOLVED. Book titled "Erika" or "Erica" about a man and a talking mole that a lot of hilarious misshapes happen because of the whole situation. Can't find the author or the book itself right now. [s]

Somebody tell me if this doesn't belong in the right folder and I will change it.
I'm looking for a book titled either "Erika" or "Erica" about a talking mole (animal) who befriends a man who starts taking care of her. They go on a bunch of wacky and awkward adventures together including a ski trip and I believe the man goes on a date that the mole gets jealous about.
I read this for a 9th grade French class project so this might be actually a only released in French book. If I remember correctly, the book itself was released in the mid 1980s, I think specifically 1984 or 1985.
I cannot for the life of me find the author or any evidence about this book online.
