Chapter 2

I love that Annie did not throw the match as directed and has chosen to interpret the note from the Ministry of Propaganda in a different way—I feel like that’s going to come in handy when she gets questioned about it later. Also I need Power to get his comeuppance by the end of the book. Seriously. What a piece of ……work. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Annie going on the visit to her home down and standing there getting spat on by everyone. Wow. That took so much courage and so much heartbreak for her to see these hurting people aren't deserving of her wrath but her compassion. But oh the rejection stings! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Getting through the Lycean ball was so terrible. This is why any classist system is wrong. All the things people say when they think they're better than you for arbitrary reasons, especially when they think you don't understand their language or the veiled meaning.

I can't figure out if Lee is going to betray his classmates or not. It's got me on edge!

Who did Annie turn in? Lee or Tyndale? I hope Tyndale but I also hope she gets firstrider. Lee has too much responsibility and too many secrets. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I really really liked this book. I was so conflicted almost all the way through it trying to figure out if Lee was going to turncoat or if he wasn't, how he was going to come out to everyone about himself and his family.

I think we are very well set-up for the next book watching the dragonriders overthrow the First Protector, who is obviously of the mindset that the rules of meritocracy only apply to some people. (hide spoiler)]

I had to finish early because my ebook was due! It really flew by once I started!
