Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments My two cents. I drink my tea black/straight. My pick is Lady Grey, and I tend to have peppermint tea in the afternoon now as I found I was drinking 6 cups of coffee, when all I wanted was something warm. We have chai at night in winter. A teabag of chai each, a mug of milk each, in saucepan on low heat, and brew as long as possible/as your patience allows. I HATE English breakfast with the fire of a thousand suns. Blergh.

I hate teas that are flavoured, so I would watch for those. By that I mean, I like it if it has the thing in it. Orange = bits of orange peel. Rose = actual rose petals. Cinnamon = bits of stick. I can't stand fake flavours and I will throw out packets over it. They taste fake and chemically.

I'm growing a lemon verbena plant at the moment. Should be big enough soon to be able to pick the leaves off it and make a tea.

Tea's also good for medicinal things. Peppermint is good for googely stomachs. Camomile is good for stomach aches (although doesn't cure appendicitis we just found out :P)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments Also, you also have white tea you can check out. And second Peggy's rec of rooibos. Yum!

Stephanie Thank you for the recommendations, Rusalka! How is Lexx doing?

Tasha All this tea (and mug) talk has got me curious to explore. I'll be looking for teas now and joining up mailing lists and liking fb pages. Thanks for starting this thread, Stephanie! :D

Travis, I second the comment good thing you got married! ;)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments You are all making me want to start exploring more teas. I've always stuck with the plain black or green teas until I tried the citrus kiss green tea. I was disappointed when my husband brought it home thinking I wouldn't like it, but it is wonderful. It has lemongrass in it. I just discovered by reading the ingredients list on the box it also has rose petals, chamomile, sweet blackberry leaf, and lemon myrtle.

I'm also a huge fan of cold peach teas. I've been drinking the fake stuff from crystal light that you can mix in a bottle of water. It is very yummy, but I'm pretty sure it isn't very good for you.

Oh, I agree on this. I keep having people trying to convince me to drink David's Tea and they do this, it's awful!

with some Arrowroot cookies too. Works great! :)

Tasha I'm not sure if this matters to anyone here but I noticed that some of the Celestial Seasoning Wellness teas (only looked at a couple, not all of them) have soy lecithin. I try to avoid this if possible (even though it is in so much crap) but i'd rather not drink it in my tea. Just thought I would share...

Not a problem! I love all this tea talk :) I've been also wanting to get "fun" mugs. I think with starting to drink tea, that means cute fun mugs to drink out of, right? :-)

Esther (nyctale) | 5190 comments For the longest type I thought I did not like tea. Turns out I did not like the black tea bags that was standard here. And I do notlike Earl Grey.

I am somewhat of a tea addict. The fact there there is now 2 awesome tea boutique in Qc do not help. Nor the fact that I found an infuser that allows me do drink tea at the office. (something like http://camellia-sinensis.com/en/teawa..., but without the basket)) I cannot say anything about brands as I do not do bags or prepackaged tea.

I have here a creamy oolong that you might quite like. It has become an addiction (and I passed it to the other 2 drinkers at my office). It has a rich buttery taste.

The only flavor tea I drink is Chai really. I love it.

I think the best way is to explore. Buy small quantity and try a few types. There is some many variety available that you are bound to find something you like.

Esther (nyctale) | 5190 comments just find out one of the tea shop here has a page in English

Checkout http://camellia-sinensis.com/en/tea-a...
It is a nice fact sheet about type of teas

They also seem to have a Facebook page in English...

message 64: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Thank you so much for the info, Esther!!

message 65: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments While I thought it was vanilla it is actually regular spiced chai we go through the most of. Love the chai

Where can I get this tea? It sounds delicious.

message 67: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments J'mom mentioned Teavanna. We have one here. Their tea is ridiculously overpriced, but one thing worth buying there is a tea timer. They have a timer with buttons for 3 minutes and 5 minutes, which are both typical brewing times for tea.

message 68: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Lupicia is my go to, and right now they have a 100 tea sampler... and it's in a book, you guys! Look if you dare...

Holy hell! Why didn't you link this for me days ago lol! Perfect Christmas gift for my housemate, I'm stocking up now for next year. Thanks!!

message 70: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Their holiday gift lineup is really cute!

message 71: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments Lexx is home. We went to a Christmas party last night, that resulted in me losing the last bit of my voice, and I properly have laryngitis this morning. Time to whip out my Christmas tea.

NO! I went to find it to tell you what was in it and I'm out! It's Black tea with almond pieces, orange peel, apple pieces, cornflowers, cinnamon & cloves.

message 72: by Tasha (new)

Tasha sounds good though...

That sounds like a tea I would really like. I shall investigate.

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments Christmas Tea.... The first time I had Christmas Tea was Second Cup. They've just opened a store here. Off to shop tomorrow.

I like these flavors in tea, BUT who wants potpourri in their tea!! :-P

message 76: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments All the more for me then! :P
So much better than syrups and chemicals.

message 77: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Well, I didn't wait till the 1st of the year to pick up some tea :) I got celestial seasonings peppermint herbal tea caffeine free. The store I went to didn't have a variety pack but I love peppermint stuff so I'm hoping I like it, but if not it was only a couple of dollars :-)

message 78: by Tasha (new)

Tasha great! I like peppermint tea too. I was at Target today and they had a sale on Tazo tea: 2/$6. I got earl grey and vanilla caramel chai. I especially can't wait to try the chai one. I make a really good sweet vanilla almond milk which I going to put in it to make it nice a creamy. :)

message 79: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie That sounds awesome, Tasha!

message 80: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I know! I can't wait to try it but since it has a bit of caffeine I need to wait until tomorrow. :(

message 81: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Bummer! But at least your day will start off on a happy note via tea :-)

message 82: by jaxnsmom (new)

Tasha Enjoy those new teas, Janice! What samples did you get? That Earl grey cream sounds good.

message 85: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Wow, they seems to have some really interesting teas over there. Have you ordered from them before, Janice?

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments Tasha wrote: "Wow, they seems to have some really interesting teas over there. Have you ordered from them before, Janice?"

Second Cup? It's a franchise like Starbucks and Tim Hortons. I didn't make it to their store yesterday. When I headed out, my son was texting, "Have you left yet?" I figured I'd better not take the time to stop. I'll be in that area tomorrow so will stop then.

message 87: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 298 comments Ooooh vanilla caramel chai! I'll have to look into that. :)
I will probably start off my tea drinking in the new year with the stuff I've had in my cupboards forever...including some really yummy stuff called sweet & spicy. Smells spicy, but tastes like warm sweet tea I'd say! It's pretty good! I was told to try it cold, tried it, but did NOT like that.

I bought my last coffee creamer yesterday...oh boy, it's getting real now! haha

No, sorry, I meant the Tea Guys. After you mentioned buying samples from them I had to check them out. They have some really interesting tea blends over there so I was wondering if you have ordered from them before.

message 89: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I decided to go with the earl grey at 7:30 this morning. I'll wait to try the vanilla caramel chai later, it's too early for all that sweetness. ;)

message 90: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments That was J'mom using the Tea Guys actually.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11257 comments I tried an apple cider tea last Saturday and didn't like it. Not very tasty and it smells like I'm in the dentist.

I'm going to have a Twinings Darjeelin now while reading Christmas Carol. I'm planning to have a relaxed morning, recharge my energies for a 12 days Christmas break starting this afternoon.

Yes, it makes sense to me now too. I was a little confused.

message 94: by Tasha (new)

Tasha LOL! I bet you were. Going back over those msgs it seems funny now. Sometimes I read so fast that inevitably things will get mixed up. I'll have to slow down and pay more attention. ;)

message 95: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments I do things like that too. Sometimes, I zip through the unread comments while my mind is on something else, so have to reread them and focus on what I'm reading.

message 96: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I'm not alone then. :)

message 97: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie The peppermint tea I had today was pretty good :) I couldn't wait till the New Year :-)

message 98: by Tasha (new)

Tasha My Tazo vanilla caramel chai tea was good. I mixed in some almond milk and added a bit of honey. So yummy!! A great afternoon winter drink. :)

Glad you enjoyed your peppermint tea, Stephanie!
