Truman agrees to keep silent about the death of Rose and Mercy’s attacker, ranch hand Kenny, as well as Levi’s involvement. Right thing to do or not?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think it was the right thing to do. It would not help anyone if he told that Rose and Mercy had been attacked fifteen years ago and that they killed one of the attackers. And telling about Levi's involvement would have been just as bad. Now Mercy gets to keep her job and Levi's daughter gets to think that he was a hero who tried to rescue her Aunt Rose.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments Agreed. I think Truman does not take his decision lightly with respect to the law, but he reminds me of Eve Dallas' move to a bit of gray area between her previous black vs white view of the law.

Well said, Robin, and I agree.

Great analogy, Charlene! What’s to be gained by telling this truth now that everyone who should have been brought to justice is dead? It’s exactly how Eve Dallas would think about it now.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Yes, I agree with Charlene. It must have been a difficult decision for Truman as he is a worthy Officer of the Law, although he is in deep with Mercy emotionally so I suppose that heavily swayed his decision . He may have made a different decision if they weren't in a relationship.

I wonder about that too, Lisa. Would Truman's decision have been different if he wasn't in deep emotionally with Mercy? We'll never know for sure. I agree that there was nothing to be gained by revealing the truth once everyone involved faced justice.

Ellen | 14 comments I agree that nothing would be gained by revealing it. It does show that both Mercy and Truman had to make life changing decisions based on the information and relationships at the time.
