Possibly a book by Richard Scarry, such as collection including Busy, Busy Town?
If not: Does he remember whether there was an actual story in the book, or was it more like a game of finding the words or finding different 'hidden' objects, or were there different activities included?

My family had one of these books when my siblings and I were children, and our version had all the words in German, French and English. When we moved from Germany to Canada, the English and French really helped with basic vocabulary development (of course, as a ten year old, I was at that time a bit embarrassed at having to use a pictorial dictionary clearly intended for younger children, but that did not prevent me from using it, just from taking it to school with me).

My friend just became a father and is looking for a book he used to love as a child. He only remembers the beginning of the title "The Big Book of..." and thinks that the cover was depicting a city with little pigs instead of persons.
Any idea?
