Leslie I was 10 when I read this book as a hard-cover I randomly selected from our local public library (now close). It would have been around 1977 when I read the book. I swear the title was either Born or Borne and the title was after then name of a main character. The character, a male, was born on a jungle planet where in previous generations a spacecraft from earth had crash-landed. I remember in the story, in just a few short generations, humans were already adapting to the new environment, including longer toes more adept at grabbing trees and vines. I don't remember much else, being I read it 40 years ago, but I think it get me started with reading scifi so I'd really like to figure out what book this was! Can't believe it's so hard to find unless I have the title wrong. It might have been young adult.

Marisa (marisasorenson) | 231 comments I did a bit of Googling and it sounds like it might be Midworld? The main character is named Born, and it was published in 1975.

Leslie Marisa, it would be so ironic if there were two stories with the same named character from the same era both on jungle planets so I'm tempted to think my memory from childhood is off. So in spite of inconsistencies between my memory and this series, I'm going to check this out and see if its a match to the few tidbits I do remember. Thanks!

Leslie I bought the book from Audible and am listening now. This IS the book! Thank you! I now know which author to credit for my infatuation with science fiction! The story is marvelous, especially for a 10 year old :)
