Finished
by Paula Hawkins -- 4 Stars!!Great, quick read!! Psychological thriller, and had to keep reading to find out how it was going to end! Would recommend!
My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
For this task I read Where the Dead Pause, and the Japanese Say Goodbye: A Journey by Marie Mutsuki Mockett
Just finished Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Eric Larson. It is the first book of his I've ever read, though his others have been on my to read list for awhile. This one was great. It was compelling and highly readable, and it was fascinating to explore the Lusitania in depth, beyond the cursory textbook mention I barely remember from grade school.
I just finished The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black and for my first book of hers, I was not disappointed. Faeries who are vicious and kill, a brother and sister duo, love and tough decisions. Definitely a strong YA fantasy. I will be reading others from her.
I counted this as 2014, since in the original post this task pointed to a URL for the best books published in 2014. I read Station Eleven, really liked it, and was surprised by how quickly I got through it.
Finished The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins on April 7th for my current year (2015) read. It was an excellent debut novel that captured my interest and kept me turning pages.
I have completed both the graphic novel and YA challenges, so I can choose either Scott McCloud's The Sculptor--which I loved--or Gayle Forman's I Was Here--which I did not--for this challenge. Either way, I completed this task. :-)
Sophie wrote: "I read Kazuo Ishiguro's new book The Buried Giant. How long do I need to wait for his next one?!"It got such mixed reviews that I wasn't sure I wanted to read it. Do you recommend it?

I liked it much better than his collection of short stories. It is at once typical Ishiguro ("Did this actually happen, the way I remember it?") yet atypical (giants, dragons, King Arthur).
I just finished At the Water's Edge. I have loved every one of Sara Gruen's books that I have read. Water for Elephants is one of my all-time favorites. This one, however, was just okay. I rated it 3 stars, but probably would have given it 4 had my expectations not been so high.
Just finished an ARC of a book coming out in June. Excellent nonfic about the history of Sherlock Holmes: The Great Detective by Zach Dunadas
I'm going to read Rebellion by Sabine Priestley. It's the 2nd book in the series and won't be published until Fall. The first in the series is Alien Attachments and a short, also published this year, is Alien Bond A Short Story in the Alien Attachments series
Lots of 2014 books but nothing for 2015 yet. I need to get on this. for 2014 books, my most recently read was Nora Webster. Beautiful and honest, though not exactly action packed. Totally different genre, I just read I Must Say: My Life as a Humble Comedy Legend and though I NEVER read celebrity bios, I really loved this.
I read A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E Schwab. Really great fantasy book, and a nice comfort read in a genre that I haven't ventured into in a while.

This was my 7th task for the Read Harder Challenge. I chose to read The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins. The Girl On The Train is a wild ride. There are so many twists, it really kept me guessing. I liked the main character Rachel Watson – she is flawed, but totally relatable. The journey she takes through the book is believable. Megan started out as a character that I wasn’t sure if I could get into, but she ended up being a character that, even if I didn’t end up liking her very much, I was able to relate to her journey. Normally I am not a big fan of stories that jump around and switch voices, but the author did an excellent job and I didn’t have much trouble.
I read "Still the One" by Jill Shalvis for this task! Here is my review:https://bookmouseblog.wordpress.com/2...
I read Adventures in Celebrity Dieting. It was actually really funny. I always think celebrity diets are funny in general, and the author seemed to share my viewpoint, so it was kind of a no-brainer. I actually didn't even know that it was pubished this year, so I would have read it anyway!
I have read The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead, Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard and The Heir by Kiera Cass all of them were published this year, so I guess I am finished with this category :)Of all the 3 the one I liked the most is Red Queen
A book that reads a little like Longbourn, I read Miss Emily by Nuala O'Connor. A novel narrated alternately by Emily Dickinson and her maid.
For a book published this year, I chose to read The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey. I finished it on June 8. It was incredibly excellent and I am eagerly awaiting book two. :-)My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Whilst I've read (and will be continuing to read) quite a few books published this year I think 'A Portable Shelter' by Kirsty Logan, which arrived on the day I started this challenge, is probably the most fitting book for my task 23.
I won a First Reads recently. Microgroove: Forays Into Other Music by John Corbett. Due to be released in October of this year. I've started that for this task.
OK, just joined the Read Harder group. Today I finished The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins, recommended by Book Riot....I LOVED IT!!!! Totally Great! My first 5 stars in a while. A cross between American Gods and Harry Potter....if you like fantasy.....
I read Angles of Attack by Mark Kloos. Is was the third book in his Terms of Enlistment series. Since I read the first two books I the series, it was a no brainier to read this year's installment.
I read a favorite authors new book "The Melody Lingers On" by Mary Higgins Clark. Awesome as always.
I ended up doing the fifth volume of Saga for this. Still reading the previously mentioned book, just doing it bits and bites at a time since it reads a bit like a text book.
I read The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz for this part of the challenge. This is a great continuation is the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series and I hope he writes more!!
I read Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. Honestly didn't enjoy it as much as I loved all her other stuff, but it was cute enough.
