Val H. | 22142 comments We are back on the Covid-19 rollercoaster. It was announced earlier today that restrictions which had been relaxed would be reinstated as of midnight Sunday. "A total of 25 new cases were recorded in the state on Saturday, up from 13 on Friday, 18 on Thursday and 21 on Wednesday." As we (Victoria) were looking like we were coming to grips with controlling the spread, it seems to have leaped the fence again.

"From midnight on Sunday night to July 12, household gatherings will be reduced to five people. Outdoor gatherings will be restricted to 10.

Cafes, restaurants and pubs had been set to be allowed 50 patrons at one time on Monday, up from 20 currently. But that will also be put on hold until July 12.

Gyms, cinemas, indoor sports centres and concert venues will be allowed to reopen as promised on Monday, but will be restricted to a limit of just 20 people."

People who are able to work from home will continue to do so at least until the end of July.

Val H. | 22142 comments And in further Covid-19 news:

Essendon defender Conor McKenna has tested positive for coronavirus. The news has forced the postponement of Sunday's game between the Bombers and Melbourne, but all other games in round three and beyond will, at this stage, proceed as usual.

McKenna returned to his native Ireland during the COVID-19-enforced shutdown, but arrived back in May and has been training with his Bombers teammates since his 14-day quarantine period ended. During this time he has been tested five times without a positive finding so it would appear the infection is not related to his overseas travel. He has not played a game yet in 2020. All players and staff at the club are now isolating.

Ohhh Val?!! ... x

Greater Manchester reached the awful number of 2000 Hospital Deaths (according to the latest NHS data) the other day and that doesn't take into any account all of the many Deaths that have occurred in the Care Homes or in folks's own Homes either - or those that were thought to be Covid-related but weren't tested or recorded on their Death Certificate as being so ;o<

Val H. | 22142 comments Our tipsters' ladder is as follows:

Round 3 (first number is correct number of wins - you want this to be high; number in brackets is the cumulative margin which is used to separate punters on the same amount of points - you want this to be low)

Dean on 5 (39)
Grizzly on 5 (41)
David on 5 (47)
Sj Brooke (Steve) on 5 (54)
Suzy on 4 (25)
Blastro on 4 (47)
Tech on 4 (49)
Val on 4 (50)
Philip on 4 (52)
RedJohn on 4 (55)
SussexWelsh on 4 (65)
Duke on 3 (45)
Anita on 3 (46)
Lez on 3 (75)
Foe on 1 (52)

Charity donations are:

Suzy (Friends With Dignity) - A$6.00 (Highest score - Suns 82)
Suzy (Friends With Dignity) - A$6.00 (closest margin)
Dean (Sacred Heart Mission) - A$11.00 (weekly winner)

CUMULATIVE LADDER:

Val on 17 (64)
David on 17 (76)
Sj Brooke (Steve) on 17 (84)
Philip on 16 (74)
Blastro on 15 (65)
Suzy on 15 (69)
Duke on 15 (71)
Grizzly on 14 (57)
Dean on 14 (70)
SussexWelsh on 14 (80)
Tech on 13 (55)
Anita on 13 (69)
Foe on 12 (88)
RedJohn on 11 (111)
Lez on 10 (137)

I received Dean's tips by email and it must be a magic formula because it got him top of the weekly table! In a week where none of us really shone, I think we should be grateful for those we did get right. Heaven knows what to expect next week. And Suzy continues to clean up now her Suns are on a roll! Well done to the winners!

Val H. | 22142 comments And please check your scores! It's 11.30pm here after a hectic few days so I may well have made some errors!

theDuke | 6491 comments Covid19 seems to have upset the usual top performing teams confidence this year, hasn't it? Crikey..it's awl gorn weird! Only Port & and the Pies (sounds like a nice name for a band!) seems to be keeping it up currently.

Oh well, well done Suzy..again! I hope you're acclimatising well at the dizzy heights to which you're finding yourself at this season! :)

And well done Dean too!

Val H. | 22142 comments Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. And especially to Suzy who sent me an amazing birthday gift!! We managed a family get-together on Sunday before the eased restrictions were rescinded and went back to 5 visitors in your home. Lots of cake was consumed! Today has been fairly quiet but nonetheless enjoyable.
