Thanks for the reminder, Suzy, I'd completely forgotten!
Thanks for the reminder, Suzy, I'd completely forgotten!
The day before the Grand Final, which is usually the last Saturday in September, is a public holiday in Victoria - Grand Final Eve - when there is a huge parade through the city centre with both teams waving from convertibles. So we did have the holiday yesterday, but although it was renamed Thank You Victoria Day (because of our great figures for new infections), I don't think anyone noticed as we are still in total lockdown, all businesses closed and everyone working from home.Today has been wet and windy here, but in Brisbane it's even worse. Bucketing down there as I type.
Still, we should be excited. Two great Victorian teams who are deserved finalists. And as it's the first ever night final, anyone in the UK who wants to follow it should be able to.

Well the game is living up to expectations. After 3 minutes, Richmond's Nick Vlaustin was stretchered from the field - knocked out cold. I doubt he'll return. And Geelong's Gary Ablett looked like he had done his shoulder. But he is back out there now.Quarter time

Tech was nearest the pin with his tip of Tigers by 17 so he wins another $15.00 for Oscar's Law.
I'll be back in the next few days with a wrap-up of the year and who won what but in the meantime, thanks everyone for hanging in there for another year.
"Tigers are pumped!!"but the cats got pumped!
again, good for me! and good for oscar's law!
................and, i suppose,......erm........eh.......good for the tigers!
Well done again Tech! Thanks a lot for hosting this punt again Val, and for all of your generosity throughout the season. Bring on the next one! :-)
YAYYY!!! - Congratulations tech!!! ... x ;o>And thank you SO very much, Val, for so generously creating and running this Punt Thread for us all once again and also for providing us with a much-needed and pleasurable distraction from everything else that has been going on across the World this year as well ... x x x ;o>
Many thanks again Val, sorry I dropped out for the last few punts. Work has got the better of me timewise.
No worries folks. I really enjoy it. It's taken me a while to work out the donations. I had to re-distribute monies earned by the three unallocated teams. Then I had to add 18.5% on to all the charities to make the 18 game season up to the usual 23 game season (which I had budgeted for). Anyway this is what the final totals look like, with approximate currency conversions:Steve (Backpack Bed For Homeless) £53.00
Dean (Sacred Heart Mission) £47.50
Tech (Oscar's Law) £45.00
Philip (Canteen) £39.50
Suzy (Friends With Dignity) £39.50
Val (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre) £28.50
David (The Song Room) £28.50
Anita (The Mirabel Foundation) £23.00
Blastro (Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation) £17.50
Grizzly (Red Nose) £17.50
Duke (Centre For Eye Research Australia) £17.50
Sussex (Save The Bilby Fund) £17.50
Lez (Dementia Australia) £17.50
Nick (Launch Housing) £17.50
RedJohn (Fr Bob Maguire Foundation) £17.50
I have made a start on making the donations online and will have them done by the end of the week, I promise.
Let's hope we're all back again next year to give it another go.
Congratulations to Steve for winning the season, Phil and Tech as runner-ups, and supreme appreciation galore to Val for your generosity and your sterling effort with running this once again. It's been another fun if slightly different season.....but can't wait for the new season to begin. Hopefully things will be back to some sort of normality by then.
Thank you once again for another great season Val and for your dedication, hard work and generosity. It's good to be part of such a closely knit little punting family that you've carefully nurtured over the years. You're a superstar.
