SOLVED. YA Fantasy. Main character is the son of woman kidnapped by raiders. One country worships a sailor & has a sailor's hook as one of the religious symbols. The prince has to sail the ocean to find the land two gods, who are brothers, sailed to. [s]

The Prince grows up in the foreign country being raised by the King while his mother was pregnant with him before she was taken by the raiders, so his biological dad tries to look for him. I think that this is a trilogy. I remember in one of the books there is a serpent that spans the globe that they need to get across, and at another point the Prince is sailing with his men and they see a woman in the water that is one of the Old Gods. I can't remember much more than this, but I do remember it being a very fun series to read.

I read the series around the summer of 2016. I'm pretty sure that it was a trilogy.

They find the island that has the two brother gods in a cave sitting on their thrones and one of the brothers wakes up. The god can't really believe that people worship him and his brother. In his mind they were just explorers (but they do have powers like transformation and size changing). The god that wakes up even says that they have gods (the woman in the water) and that they are just older beings.
