Kate S | 6459 comments Read a book whose title contains one (and one only) of these conjunctions: and, but, for, nor, or, so, yet.

Please post any discussion about task 10.3 in this thread.

Penny (Literary Hoarders) (pennyliteraryhoarders) | 123 comments I'm able to use this book for another task, however, would the & in the title, Writers & Lovers count as an "and"?

It's okay if no, but I'm seeing it in the title and thought hey, maybe?

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments This was a question asked while the polls were still going on. You shouldn't feel bad for not seeing it before, I'm just relating where/why it was posted earlier and copying that response.

I'm hoping to read the new book by Hilary Mantel, The Mirror & the Light this spring. Will the "&" count for "and" for the poll choice conjunctions?..."

Thank you for asking this question early in the game, Karen. It isn't an easy one and we went back and forth about its various aspects, I'll admit. We have decided that the ampersand will not count for the conjunction task, nor does it count towards a word in the 5-letter task. No special characters, punctuation or spaces will count for the 20+ letter task.

Penny (Literary Hoarders) (pennyliteraryhoarders) | 123 comments Oh! Perfect! Thanks Elizabeth...I kind of didn't think it would work, but I thought I'd ask! :-) (and oops, no I didn't see this before, so thanks for the update!)

Kathleen (itpdx) (itpdx) | 1720 comments The conjunction “and” is used in both the title and subtitle
Amity and Prosperity: One Family and the Fracturing of America. Does this qualify? I am reading it for 20.1 and it is stomach churning good!

I read it last year. A real eye-opening read!

Sorry for the delay in responding. As long as you have only one conjunction in the title and only one conjunction in the subtitle, you should be OK. It is not only one in either/or. So that title would work.
