SOLVED. Book where girl dreams in different time periods and saves boy every time. [s]

I read this book about a year ago where a girl is bullied and neglected by her mother, and has dreams of different historical periods. In these dreams she meets a boy and has to save him and his family every time she meets them. The dreams last about 2-3 weeks at a time per year. She looks forward to these dreams and it’s the only thing she stays alive for. At some point I think she was in class and had an assignment where she wrote about being in Pompeii and saving the guy from the eruption. This book was really sad and I would love to find it at some point. I’ve searched everywhere. Thank you! I really do hope this helps, but it isn’t The Secret Girl or Eleanor and Park.
