Bethany Salway | 48 comments Checking in from the Carribbean. Looks like things aren't sorted yet, so I'll be back online in 4 days. Definitely no clashes for me!

Hi Vanessa

Jeanette is a good name (then I'm biased, lol).

It was a looong read. Thankfully, most books are a more normal length.

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Grady - As you have already signed up for the Novella round and you can only sign up for one round at a time, I can't include you in this one. However, if you would prefer to be in this round, please let me know and I will include you here and remove you from the Novella round. Thanks.

No. I am fine in the Novella round. I just had extra time on my hands and thought I could get extra reading done.

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Welcome Ned!

And onto the checking phase again.

To remind you please check you haven't reviewed the four people above you on the list ( the list wraps around so 10 is 'above 1).

Please also check (by looking at their author page) that if you have already reviewed any of the four people 'below' you on the list they have more books available that you have not yet reviewed.

Once you have done these checks, then please post to say if you spot an issue or if you are good to go!

All good for me. I've reviewed Helen's Bait & Dream Warrior - but she has plenty of other books. Shadows sounds intriguing, or maybe Dawning, though open to suggestion, Helen

Ned Huston | 37 comments I have not reviewed any of these people or been reviewed by any. I am willing to buy books so I can post on Amazon.

I did review Tristen, but it looks like he's not on the list anymore.

Ned Huston | 37 comments I'm going to put my book TIMESTORM RIDERS up for free on Amazon for a limited time if I can swing it, so hold off buying it.

I've reviewed Akrad's Children by Jeanette O'Hagan and, if I'm reading this right, that creates a conflict. And both D. Wallace Peach Helen Mathey-Horn have reviewed my book, but i have alternates.

message 73: by E.M. (last edited Mar 15, 2020 03:00AM) (new)

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Alright Everyone - I can't make this sudoku work! I have tried - very hard but it just will not go.

So - I have opened a new Out of this World Round and I am, politely, asking people with clashes to consider migrating there. I know this would mean a delay in getting reviews, but as regulars here know Out of this World rounds fill very fast usually so I don't think it'll be too long a delay.

So, if you are willing, please sign up on the new thread HERE

It may be I do not need you to migrate in the end, but unless a couple of people at least do, this round is going nowhere and the other option is I choose who to migrate.

Alternatively, there is the 18+ Round you could join, or if someone has a shorter book or short story they would like to offer for review instead, the Novella Round also has places.

This is an object lesson, maybe, in me remembering to ask people to continually check back and report on any clashes which occur as the sign-ups progress. Something I will make a point of doing ongoing - and you can all help by doing the same!

message 74: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Salway | 48 comments I couldn't resist the Logic puzzle of this problem. It looks like the only unsurmountable clashes (correct me if wrong) are:

Lucreti -> Jenette
Jenette -> Helen
Gene -> Jenette
Helen -> Gene

with surmountable clashes at:

D -> Helen**
D -> Gene*
Lucreti -> Jenette*

If we put the names in this order, I believe it avoids all clashes from both lists, except for D->Helen, who I think has already started an alternate book and might like to keep at it.

Helen
D
Prashanti
JS
Lucretia
Gene
Ned
Bethany

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Wow Bethany, I am genuinely dead impressed! Can I borrow you for future tricky reorderings, please?

However, as you note D cannot review Helen, so this still won't work :(

I have opened a new round, and the 18+ and Novella rounds are both also open. If no one decides to move in the next week, I will try and figure out who was both last to join with clashes (and forgot to list them all) and remove them from the round.

message 76: by Lucretia (new)

Lucretia | 136 comments I can move to the 18 group if it helps. My only clash there so far is Casey, but I see he has another book I could read.

message 78: by E.M. (new)

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Thank you so much Gene, you are a real star.

Lucretia - since Gene has kindly moved we should be fine now, although if you wish to shift groups - or anyone else does, please do so.

Anyone signing up for the final spot in this group please make sure you fit in before doing so. If you can't fit in the last spot without clashes, then please sign up for group 249 instead. Thank you.

Oh! So to clarify the rules, when someone says they have an alternate book that a participant could read in place of the submitted book, that is actually not acceptable?

That was a typo I think, Bethany. One your proposed list, you have Helen reviewing me, and that doesn't work because I've reviewed her. Having an alternate book is fine. It's complicated, but I think EM has us almost there. :-)

message 87: by Bethany (new)

And one more time please good people!

I need everyone to check they have not previously reviewed the four people above them on the list ( the list wraps around so 10 is 'above' 1).

Please also check (by looking at their author page) that if you have already reviewed any of the four people below you on the list they have more books available that you have not yet reviewed.

As before, please post to say if you have a clash or to say all is ok for you!

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reads/reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their readers in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to provide and accept PDF. You may buy or borrow the books you are due to read if you wish, and I’m sure the author will appreciate the verified review, but IT IS NOT COMPULSORY. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

All reviews must be posted to GR. We also encourage members to post on Amazon. When you have posted your reviews, please post the links to each of your reviews, not the book page in this thread.
The mod of each round will record whether members have posted reviews on Amazon and for the good of all, members who persistently fail to post reviews or DNF reviews to Amazon, will find mods less than willing to add them to subsequent groups.

Postings to other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum).

Setting up and modding these rounds is a labour of love, with a lot of emphasis on the ‘labour’. If you want to show appreciation for all the hard work we admins put in for the group, you could download one of our books as a ‘thank you’.

Happy reviewing, everyone :)
