I´m okay with it, but also flexible re other months, as I´m always busy with too many books. ;) From the holiday theme it would fit good of course.
Well, in that case, I think we go for December then folks.Jean, can I ask you to set up the thread for us :-
The Christmas Egg: A Seasonal Mystery byMary Kelly
Anyone else interested in joining us, then please make yourself known, it should be a fun read.
After seeing your posts I put a hold on The Christmas Egg with my library so if I can get it I will try to join in.
I can't really post this thread, as we could get a sudden influx of voters, and then it would be our group read LOL! But sure, if The Christmas Egg: A Seasonal Mystery doesn't win, a buddy read would be great!

I wonder if anyone would be interested in doing a long buddy read (more than one book) of Agatha Christie. I'm a big fan of hers. If people are interested, I'm not sure what would be preferred; I have thought of a Miss Marple buddy read, but I'm very opened to suggestions.

I've been reading/watching a lot of Poirot lately, so a Miss Marple read would suit me very well! :)
This would be great, France-Andrée! I know of two groups who are reading all the Poirot books in order. One has virtually finished, and the other is halfway through. (You probably know this, but others might not). So you could do that, or Miss Marples, or stand-alones or Tommy and Tuppence ...
One way to decide might be to look at the number of books in each series. (GR has a series page for each.) For instance, I think there are about 4 times as many Poirots as Miss Marples. Or you could make a list of some standalones in your first comment - or do them in publication order. Just let me know when you have 3 or 4 wanting to join in :)

I'm new to the group, and I would be interested in this too. I've read random books from each series in no particular order, and I've always wondered how much character development in the detectives happens in the series.
There is also a group (thanks, Brenda) who are doing a complete Agatha Christie read and they are on The Murder on the Links. I’m doing the same thing but not in a group, My next is The Mystery of the Blue Train.I would like to start Miss Marple in January if that would be good for others.

I was part of a buddy read of Miss Marple books (4 years ago), and then have been reading the Poirot's in order for the last 3 years. That said, I'd be interested in going back to Jane Marple
I'm going to read Agatha Christie’s Marple: The Life and Times of Miss Jane Marple (it's my Christmas gift to myself) and that should give us background. I'm glad you are onboard Adrian!

When your ready to open a thread, Jean, toward the end of the month. We will start reading Miss Marple in January. Thanks.
I was part of the Miss Marple buddy read in another group a few years ago, but missed a few, so would be interested in filling in the blanks in my list next year.
Would anyone like to do a buddy read? You just need three, and then agree a start date here, and I'll post a thread for you :)
I've been meaning to read a couple of books by Susan Hill that have been on my shelves for quite some time, and as I was recently reminded about them in another thread I wondered if anyone would like to buddy read the first in the Simon Serrailler series The Various Haunts of Men with me - and possibly The Pure in Heart too?
Jacqui, would you like to nominate the first one for our next group read? It would definitely fit (and is a great read!)
The nomination thread is open right now :)

Already made my nomination Jean but I guess it could wait until June's Group Read? It's not like I haven't got anything else to read in the meantime 😆
Ah - sorry - hadn't spotted that. I had the same problem, but would like to second that one if it came up :) I'd probably read it again on June too, unless there's a buddy read right now (sadly I don't have time at the moment).

I'm one of the silent people in this group, but I just barely finished the first of the series and have been pondering the second. The first is quite different than the typical mystery. If not elected for a group read, I'd love to participate in a discussion with you about both.
Julie wrote: "Jacqui wrote: "I've been meaning to read a couple of books by Susan Hill that have been on my shelves for quite some time, and as I was recently reminded about them in another thread..."Julie thank you. That sounds like a great idea. Let's see what happens and I'll let you know if I read it before entering it as a June Nomination.
Anyone else into Martin Edward's Lake District series? A new one has dropped recently that I haven't started yet. I'd even be interested in re-reading any of the previous ones.
I loved the Lake District series! Didn’t know he was still writing them. I’d be up for a new book or a re-read.
Just let me know when you'd like a thread setting up :)
Perhaps we should have one of these as a group read some time?

I think each could stand on it's own. You would just miss some of the personal relationships. The recent one is The Girl They All Forgot.
Hm…. I guess I started responding to this and got interrupted. Let’s blame it on the puppy. ☺️ If there is enough interest I will go along, with the understanding that I might lag a bit in participation since there is no audio version and I am challenged to find time to read in print!
France-Andrée wrote: "It sounds like a great series, I haven’t read any yet. Would I be lost if you started further on?"I had not heard of him either but I think I can get his books from the library when I know which one you are reading.

Are we all ok for December ? If so we can ask Jean to set up a thread for us.
