J (jsummerset) Book details: I read this when I was in High school, 1997 or 98.
Sci-fi/YA. The book was a little yellowed so I think it must have come out late 80s to early 90s?
The main character was an orphaned half-breed human/alien with green eyes. His first memory was being alone in an alley crying and a man came out and punched him to be quiet instead of helping him.
Whatever race of alien they were, they had some sort of telekinesis or telepathy. And you knew them because of their green eyes.

I know more details if needed, but I don't know if it will be spoilers or not, so I'll just wait to see if someone needs it.
Thanks for your time. I've been trying to remember this book for a couple of years now.

J (jsummerset) some more details: possible spoilers-

the boy met an older gentleman and a girl his age who both had alien blood and they convinced him to join their cause. I don't think the cause was a rebellion.
they got him taken to a prison asteroid mine and he was eventually beaten but my memory gets fuzzy here.

Sue Blaikie | 161 comments You could take a look at Joan Vinge’s Cat series. Psion is the first one.Psion
It’s such a long time since I read them I don’t remember the plot details, but Cat was a green eyed telepathic I think.
