Definitely the Sword of Kaigen. What a novel! Nothing came close, and I have a feeling nothing will for a long time.

1. The Shadow Saint: Book Two of the Black Iron Legacy - Read this via whispersync mix of Kindle and Audible; narrator was really, really excellent!
