I loved Bel Canto! Such a beautiful book.
I won't make a nomination, because there's nothing on my TBR that currently fits this theme. But I do love the theme! One of my all time favorite books/movies is High Fidelity
The Wrecking Crew by Kent Hartman- has strong music based theme. A buddy told me about it but I haven't read it and forgot to ask him about it..... o o p s

I've not read it myself but it does have a music tag and one of the characters is a musician, so I will accept it.

When I saw the theme, I immediately went to High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. Great call, Ally! Also one of my favorites.
Bel Canto is one of my favorite books . I would definitely reread it .The Cellist of Sarejevo is also a very profound story .

I haven't read Cellist either. Some other music themed books are: Amadeus, The Pianist and Ragtime

I'm looking forward to reading Bel Canto - have heard a lot of good things about it.
It was so good! It was sitting on my shelve for a long time because for some reason I thought I wouldn't like ...I was so wrong. Hope you love it too !
Ann Patchett is incredible. I've loved all her books so far -- still need to read State of Wonder though.
I read State of Wonder this year, and really enjoyed it. Bel Canto was a great story, too. Run is the only other Ann Patchett book I've read so far, but I'll be reading more of hers in the future. Run was good, but I liked the other two more. She knows how to tell a story!

Ok so there's been quite a bit of discussion, which is fabulous but it does mean I'm unsure whether some are nominations or not.
Below is what I think are nominations:
- The Cellist of Sarajevo
- The Before Now And After Then
- Bel Canto
- The Soloist: A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship, and the Redemptive Power of Music
- The Wrecking Crew
- A Visit From The Good Sqaud
- Kicking and Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul, and Rock and Roll
- This Lullaby
Please shout if I've missed your nomination off or put one on that shouldn't be there. Thanks.
