SOLVED. Tank battle in Europe between NATO and the Soviets. [s]

I read a book in the 90's with a shiny silver cover. I believe the author's last name started with L and that there were two related books to this book. The major plot point that I can remember is a massive tank battle between NATO and the Soviet Union. I appreciate any help figuring out the title to and author of this book.

Could it be Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy?

I originally thought that it was a Clancy book but I remember the book being part of a trilogy, one of the other two oils is specifically about the naval battles. I wish I had more info as I know I haven’t provided a lot to go on.

This proved why eye witness accounts are not always reliable. My Fiancee found the book. The cover is silver, but there is a navy ship, not a tank on the cover. The author's first name starts with and L, not his last; Larry Bond. The book's title is Red Phoenix and there is one follow up book. I know the information I initially provided was not great but I appreciate this group now that I know it exists and will try my best to help out in the future!
